I'm having one of those days...

when we are re-considering [name]Beckett[/name]. Coincidentally I was thinking about it today and when I asked my husband which name was ‘it’ today he replied [name]Beckett[/name] after it not being on the table for a month or so now.

Anyway, I was thinking what if we used my favorite, [name]Mathias[/name], in the middle? This was never an option we considered…but then I was thinking the first two initials would be BM which is not good either. Is this a deal breaker? I really like the sound of it…and the full initials would be BMK. I feel like its 1 step forward two steps back with our names!

Thoughts?

I love the name [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name]. I also think [name]Beckett[/name] fits nicely with your other children’s names. Most kids do not understand what a BM is and when they do understand, they are usually mature enough to not make fun of it. So I do not think the initials are an issue. Especially since he will most likely use BMK or BK as his initials, not BM.

I love [name]Beckett[/name], and I’m usually not a bug surname person. I think [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] is so handsome! I don’t think the BM matters because it’s not first and last…and you really never see just the first two letters. BK and BMK would be what people might see, and those are fine. It certainly shouldn’t be a deal breaker. Actually, I really really love this combo. [name]LOVE[/name].

Yes! I have loved [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] for you from the get-go. It really perfectly balances your other three children. Hypothetical little [name]Beckett[/name] would have a nature connection with [name]Juniper[/name] (a beck is a small stream), strong consonant sounds like [name]Conrad[/name], and the same gentle, refined masculinity as [name]Nolan[/name]. It flows perfectly and is very distinguished.

Personally, I’m not a fan of [name]Beckett[/name] (the nickname [name]Beck[/name] would be pretty cool though) because it sounds too much like bucket. I much prefer [name]August[/name], [name]Mathias[/name], [name]Leopold[/name], and [name]Atticus[/name], in that order. But [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] is a handsome, perfectly acceptable name.

I really like it. [name]Beckett[/name] is a great name and [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] is an amazing combo.

[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] is amazing! I wouldn’t worry too much about the initials. [name]How[/name] often in life do you use your initials anyways. BMK is not really that bad anyways. If it were something like BAD or PIG I would say no but BMK is fine to me.

Okay, thanks so much for the reassurance all of you! I’m still liking it after sleeping on it so maybe it’s here to stay…every morning I wake up surprised that I haven’t gone into labor yet but I will be sure to come back after he or she is born. Possibly for advice…but for the announcement for sure

I like [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name]. It’s a handsome and strong name. I don’t think the initials will be a problem. I use my initials almost everyday at my job and I wouldn’t mind having the initials BMK.

It seems like this is “the” name for you and your husband. He said it was the name and in your signature it says you are “trying to let go of [name]Beckett[/name]”. I don’t think you should have to talk yourself out of a name. Since you both love it, use it. [name]May[/name] I ask why you are having second thoughts about [name]Beckett[/name]?

[name]Christabel[/name]- it was our go-to name for our last team green baby 2 years ago. The situation was reversed…we were positively set on [name]Beckett[/name] and fumbling between a few girls’ names. When my daughter was 5-6 months old an acquaintance of ours had a boy and named him [name]Beckett[/name]…I was devastated. I went on to be this little guy’s photographer so I see him every 4 months…and we have many mutual good friends that were raving over his name after he was born and saying how they’d never heard it before etc etc. it broke my heart because that was when I realized that all these people would think we directly copied this name if we ever had a boy. Im the type that prefers not to share names with people we know or even know of.Then I worked more on talking myself out it rather than giving it anymore consideration. Other smaller reasons for talking myself out of it: baby [name]Beckett[/name] (girl!) on pregnant with heels show, 2 baby Beckhams born at our local hospital and the names are close/makes [name]Beckett[/name] sound trendy, the rising popularity of the name insucha short time, tv show ‘Castle’ with lady that goes by [name]Beckett[/name].

[name]One[/name] thing I have going for me is I did tell the mom of the [name]Beckett[/name] I know that that would’ve been my daughters name had she been a boy…and explained why we chose it etc etc so at least she knows that we could very well use it and aren’t copying.

I think [name]Beckett[/name] is fine. BM wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me.

[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Matthias[/name] is gorgeous!

[name]Beckett[/name]'s a cool name, and it goes well with your other children’s names. BM is definitely not a deal breaker, it’s my first and middle initials and I’ve never had a problem. There are very few situations where you need to write just your first and middle initials anyways.

1234plus1 - Thanks for taking the time to explain. I would still use [name]Beckett[/name] if I were you. I don’t think it will become a “girls name”. I also don’t think an aquaintance would stop me from using a name, especially if I had planned on using it first. I have been at my current job about 7 months and a girl just told me that my daughters name is her pick when she has a girl. It didn’t really bother me even though my daughter’s name is not very common.

Thanks everyone! We’re going to keep it on the table, hopefully until baby arrives arrives. We discussed it some more tonight and I read everyone’s comments to my husband. He suggested [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Henry[/name] also ([name]Henry[/name] s his middle) but I think I’m going to need [name]Mathias[/name] in the middle if we go with [name]Beckett[/name]. [name]Just[/name] something about that combo that I love and makes me let go of my reservations. Plus I feel like [name]Beckett[/name] honors my husbands first name so don’t necessarily need a middle from his side.

[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] is so handsome! I can sympathize with your reasoning for letting [name]Beckett[/name] go, but I really think [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] (or even [name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] [name]Henry[/name]/[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] [name]Jack[/name]/[name]Beckett[/name] [name]Mathias[/name] [name]Lou[/name]?) is really handsome and fits so perfectly with [name]Conrad[/name], [name]Nolan[/name], and [name]Juniper[/name]. If you can get over the other family using [name]Beckett[/name] first, I think it’s a really great choice for you.

If not, I think [name]Mathias[/name] something-or-other would be really great, too.

Good luck!
