With our first three kids DP and I agreed on a name so quickly and neither of us doubted that it was the perfect fit, but that isn’t happening this time. We have had a boy name picked out for a long time and we finally got to use it on our third, but that was the only name that I really love for a boy. The name is [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] Th0mas and we call him [name_m]Eddie[/name_m]. We have only met one other [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and he was much older that ours, which I love about the name. The names we like but don’t love are…
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] - I love how this is old and we don’t know any little ones, but the only real nickname is [name_m]Art[/name_m] or [name_m]Artie[/name_m]. We could use the full name, but I’m not sold on it. Any suggestions to help me love it?
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] - I guess I like it, but [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is so popular and [name_m]Charles[/name_m] sounds a little to stuffy for me. DP really loves this though.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] - DP and I really like [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], so having a little [name_m]Harry[/name_m] is very appealing, but I feel like that isn’t something we should do to a child. This kid will grow up round a lot of HP stuff so is it weird for his name to be [name_m]Harry[/name_m] too?
[name_m]Philip[/name_m] - We are both kind of meh on this. Neither of us hate it and it is a solid choice except we don’t love [name_u]Phil[/name_u] as a nickname. Maybe [name_m]Pip[/name_m], but that really only works on a child. We could just use the full name.
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] - I love this, but unusable as we would call hum [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] and [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is a big no. Also, DP had a cat named [name_m]Fred[/name_m] as a child…
[name_m]Peter[/name_m] - It’s nice and probably what we will use if we don’t find anything better, but I feel like we can and I don’t want to give a child a name I don’t love.
Sisters are L0uise [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and Fr@nces [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. We love names that are old and uncommon but easily spelled. A nickname that we like is a nice addition, but not necessary. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any ideas? (Sorry for the long post, we really just can’t seem to find the right name)
All of these are lovely! I admit that [name_m]Peter[/name_m] is my favorite, but [name_m]Peter[/name_m] was my first favorite boys’ name, and I still adore it to this day! Then again, I love [name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m] from the Bible, so.
I adore [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], too, and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is amazing, but [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is problematic. Maybe another nn like [name_m]Fritz[/name_m], [name_m]Fitz[/name_m], [name_m]Eric[/name_m], or even a variant of [name_m]Eric[/name_m] like the Finnish [name_m]Eero[/name_m]? ([name_m]Eero[/name_m] is pretty disconnected from [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], lol, but I think he’s so cool! It’s said like “arrow”.)
I also like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] a lot (never thought I’d see the day, but it’s true!). I love the tie to [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], and if I had one he’d be nn’d [name_m]Thor[/name_m] or even [name_m]Bear[/name_m], thanks to its meaning.
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is adorable, though, and works well with your other three, too? I think all of these are great, but it sounds like you’re not really convinced with any of them.
Other vintage classics:

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]/[name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Robert[/name_m] ([name_u]Robbie[/name_u], [name_u]Bertie[/name_u], or even [name_u]Robin[/name_u] are adorable!)
[name_m]Albert[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_u]Lionel[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]/[name_m]Hugh[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] (although [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Desmond[/name_m] ARE pretty rhymey)
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m]
[name_m]David[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]/[name_m]Andreas[/name_m]
[name_m]Harold[/name_m]/[name_m]Harald[/name_m] (I might be crazy, but I think [name_m]Hal[/name_m] is adorable!)
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_u]Love[/name_u] your taste in names! We have an 18 month old [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and have been really pleased with our choice. He’s a happy, playful, chunky, tank of a boy with wavy hair. He carries his name well. We plan on naming the next baby [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. Best of luck.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] your name style! I do think [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] nn [name_m]Artie[/name_m] is cute, and I really like [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is really popular right now but otherwise I love that too! Lots of good suggestions from other posters, a few more:
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] - you could consider ‘[name_m]Arturo[/name_m]’ (Italian for [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]) which was the nickname of an [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] that I knew, or [name_m]Arto[/name_m] (like [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]).
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] - if you’re not sold on [name_m]Charles[/name_m] you could consider [name_m]Carl[/name_m]?
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] - [name_m]Harry[/name_m] is a very established name so it’s not going to be an immediate link to [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] (not like [name_m]Albus[/name_m] or [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] for instance). There are enough famous [name_m]Harrys[/name_m] that I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
You could also consider: [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Quentin[/name_m], [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Timothy[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
