We had 4 little boys and then were blessed with a beautiful baby girl who we named [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_m]Jaymes[/name_m] (after her great grandfather). We love her name. We are now so excited to be having another baby…a little sister for [name_f]Violet[/name_f]; however I am all over the place with names and I’m running out of time quickly. I really like old fashioned names, but I am also partial to flower/plant names and colors since [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a flower and color. Some of the names we’ve considered are:
Firstly, congratulations! [name_m]Just[/name_m] out of interest what are your boys names? It could give some more insight into your style.
From your list I like:
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
Some other suggestions (sorry if they aren’t colour or nature related)
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Erica[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - colour and nature related!
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
I really like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] with [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and the suggestions of [name_f]Adeline[/name_f].
I would suggest…
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
The style I chose with my boys is not very congruent with what I like for girls; also there is quite a large gap between my boys and my girls. I have a [name_m]Braxton[/name_m], [name_m]Bowman[/name_m], [name_u]Jet[/name_u], and [name_m]Britain[/name_m]. I do really like the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. I worried b/c [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is so popular though. We also considered [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a middle name, so pretty.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_m]Jaymes[/name_m] is beautiful! Other ideas are:
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] nn Cressy
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maple[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavendar[/name_f]
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Coral[/name_f]
X
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_u]Navy[/name_u], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] are quite colorful. Which is fine if you are going for a theme, but it is not a subtle one. I do love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] though, and I don’t mind the theme.
Similarly, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_f]Clover[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_f]Flora[/name_f] have the plant theme going on. [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is a bit more subtle.
All of these are nice as non-themed options:
[name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
Avonlea
[name_u]June[/name_u] - another word name, but at least they’re not both colors or plants.
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] sounds too similar, and I’m not a fan of the rest with [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
In the end, I think [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] are my favorites for [name_f]Violet[/name_f]'s sister.
Some other ideas: [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Mira/name_f, [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Clio[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]…
I know lots of parents like to do themes (nothing wrong with that!) but I think these names hit the chord of being vintage, nature inspired and go very well with [name_f]Violet[/name_f] without being flower names.
Thanks guys, this gives me a lot to ponder. I just want her to love her name as much as I love her. It feels like such a big decision to me seeing as her name will follow her throughout her life. We are quite certain this will be our last child as well, so this is my last chance to name a little one…just want to get it right
This is exactly what I’ve been thinking; however I’ve been a little hesitant because the name [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is pretty unusual at least where we live. I’d never heard the name before, but it’s grown on me. I can just imagine a cute little toddling [name_f]Clover[/name_f] boppin’ around the house…I just wonder if it would be appropriate for her as an adult? I thought maybe if I gave her a very feminine middle name as a backup that it would work. Any suggestions of something lovely to put with [name_f]Clover[/name_f]?
