[name]Audrey[/name]. I’m happy with it, but I’m afraid it doesn’t go with our last name, [name]Israel[/name].
[name]Audrey[/name] [name]Israel[/name]… it’s a bit of a mouthful. I am open to suggestions as is my husband. We think [name]Israel[/name] is such a tough last name. I’d love an A name because we are trying to name after my grandmother [name]Ada[/name]. I actually love [name]Ada[/name] but have not gotten my husband on board.
Thanks for remembering. Yes, still definitely going to do an L middle name. My husband thinks [name]Lev[/name] is just fine for a girl and we may go there but it hasn’t been settled.
I love love love [name]Alice[/name] but it’s my mom’s name and can’t do it. But it’s the perfect combo of sweet and traditional, imo. I do really like [name]Adeline[/name] and [name]Alexis[/name]. [name]Ayelet[/name] is pretty too. Was wondering about [name]Althea[/name], shortened to [name]Thea[/name]. [name]Althea[/name] [name]Israel[/name], hmmm.
Agreed, they don’t sound quite right together. [name]Israel[/name] really is tough to put to an A name, but here are a few suggestions.
[name]Althea[/name] nn [name]Thea[/name] is adorable, plus it has the added bonus of meaning “healing power”.
[name]Adira[/name]
[name]Albany[/name]
[name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Annora[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]
[name]Anna[/name](with an ending of bel/beth if you prefer)
[name]Anahi[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
Good luck with finding a name for your daughter :).
[name]Audrey[/name] [name]Israel[/name] sounds great to me. I wouldn’t think twice about clashing or lack of harmony if I heard it on a little girl. I also like [name]Ayelet[/name] and [name]Althea[/name].
If you’re looking for an L name for the middle, how about Lior - which I think can be either boy or girl - or [name]Liora[/name]? [name]Audrey[/name] Lior(a) [name]Israel[/name] - lovely.
It’s not a deal-breaker, but so so many girls’ names end in -a, and that will really smash into the starting vowel in [name]Israel[/name]. You have to put a sort of “voiced guttural stop,” in linguistic terms, in between [name]Althea[/name] & [name]Israel[/name] to enunciate them properly.
So many girls’ names end on L, too, which makes them rhyme with [name]Israel[/name]!
Something “sweet and traditional”:
[name]Abilene[/name]
[name]Aileen[/name]
[name]Agnes[/name]
[name]Alix[/name] (the original medieval form of [name]Alice[/name]-- too close?)
[name]Aisling[/name] (Irish name pronounced ash-lyn)
[name]Alexandrine[/name]
Alisande (another medieval form of [name]Alice[/name])
[name]Allaire[/name] (medieval form of [name]Hillary[/name], meaning ‘mirthful’)
Alyssum
[name]Amandine[/name]
Ambrosine
[name]Apolline[/name]
[name]Annette[/name]
[name]Annice[/name]
[name]Anwen[/name]
[name]Autumn[/name]
Honestly I think that [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Israel[/name] is just fine the way it is. I have always loved the name [name]Audrey[/name]. I say go for it! Your and your husband obviously both love it!
Thanks guys, you’re so helpful.
I love [name]Annette[/name] but can’t do it because I have an awful aunt [name]Annette[/name]. I also adore [name]August[/name] and bug my husband about it for a boy. I never really thought about it for a girl. I wonder if I could convince him because he had a grandma [name]Gussie[/name].
It’s funny, my daughter is [name]Hannah[/name] and I never had trouble with the A sound butting into the I. My problem is the [name]Aud[/name]-ree + Is-ree, like they’re rhyming or singsongy.
