[name]Hi[/name] berries!
This is my first time posting, although I have to admit I’ve been snooping for quite a while. I’m not pregnat, but my husband and I just started trying, and I’ve decide to get an early jump on things. All of you offer great advice, and I know I’m going to need some!
My name is [name]Lena[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (pronounced lay-na). My mom named me after my maternal grandmother [name]Helena[/name], but went with just [name]Lena[/name]. I’ve always loved it! My husband’s name is [name]James[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Reide[/name], but he goes by [name]Jim[/name]. [name]Wilder[/name] was his mom’s maiden name, and we’d love to pass it on to a future son. But right now, we’re focusing on a girls name.
My husband, or DH as you berries call them, loves the name [name]Margot[/name]. I like it too, but prefer [name]Margaret[/name], and [name]Margot[/name] as a nn. I think that the longer name sounds better with our last name. We want to use [name]Montgomery[/name] (my maiden name) as one of two middle names. We’d pair it with something short and feminine for the other.
So what do you think?
[name]Margot[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name] _____ [name]Reide[/name]
or
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name] _____ [name]Reide[/name]
Thanks in advance for your advice! I have a feeling we’re going to become great friends - I have a lot of questions!
[name]Lena[/name]
I have to say, [name]Margot[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name] sounds better to me than [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name]. [name]Both[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Montgomery[/name] have lots of T’s going on, so it disrupts the flow, whereas [name]Margot[/name] is clean and streamlined. Would you use [name]Maggie[/name] as a nickname or keep it at [name]Margot[/name]? [name]Margot[/name] [name]Reide[/name] sounds really distinguished, too, very much like an actress or author or something glamorous! Is the last name pronounced as [name]Reed[/name]? [name]Margo[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name] might look even better to me, actually. And, perhaps you’d consider [name]Marguerite[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name], though that is a bit of a mouthful in my honest opinion…
As for second middle names, do you have any ideas? Would you like something classic? With [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]James[/name] in both you and your husband’s names, I’m sensing that a classic name would be right at home. Here are some ideas:
My favorite is [name]Margo[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. [name]Jane[/name]'s got a nice meaning, too - “God’s gracious gift.” Good luck!
I really like [name]Margaret[/name] nn [name]Margot[/name]. I think [name]Margot[/name] can probably stand alone fairly well, but it’s always good to have choices! [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Reide[/name] sounds very sophisticated. Middle name ideas:
I love [name]Margot[/name] so much! Sorry I’m with your hubby on this one hehe. Plus [name]Margot[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name] sounds better to me than [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name].
Something short and feminine? Hmmm. Well since [name]Reide[/name] is one syllable I prefer a 2 syllable 2nd middle name but still something short, how about:
I see the point the [name]Margot[/name] [name]Montgomery[/name] sounds better, but I think that [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Reide[/name] sounds better, and it has more nn possibilities. I’m coming around to [name]Margot[/name] though.
As I said, I’m not pregnat yet, so we’re in no hurry, and are just tossing more names out there. Thank you for all of the middle name suggestions. We’ve added a lot to the list, for both first and middle names.
