I'm new and need help!

[name]Hi[/name] everyone!

I really need some help with girls names! I’m all settled on a boys name (and have been for years) but have got a long list of girls names that I need to narrow down. I’m not really sure if I have a ‘style’ and I can’t seem to decide on a few favorites as there are such an abundance of nice girls names! Any opinions on the names are appreciated or if you think there’s a name I might like please add it below. Thanks!

[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Arden[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Holland[/name]
[name]Ianthe[/name]
[name]Marla[/name]
[name]Nellie[/name]
[name]Ottilie[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name]
[name]Thora[/name]

From your list my favorites are [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Arden[/name], [name]Ottilie[/name], [name]Tabitha[/name], and [name]Thora[/name].

[name]Adelaide[/name] - Super cute name that will fit in with all the Addisons and Madelines. The biggest down fall with this one is that people will probably shorten it to [name]Addy[/name] and there are tons of little Addys and Maddys running around these days. But if that doesn’t bother you then I think it’s a great choice.

[name]Arden[/name] - This one has got to be my absolute favorite, but I’m biased. I’m almost 36 weeks pregnant with a little [name]Arwen[/name]. [name]Arden[/name] was a close runner up for me. I like it because it’s very strong sounding. Nothing frilly here, but it’s still feminine. I also love the nickname [name]Ari[/name]. My little one’s nickname is [name]Ari[/name] [name]Lou[/name].

[name]Ottilie[/name] - Adorable name. Very feminine and spunky. I couldn’t see myself ever using this name, but I’d be thrilled to meet a little [name]Ottilie[/name].

[name]Tabitha[/name] - To me this is a classic. You can never go wrong with a classic. It also made me think of the names [name]Tess[/name] or [name]Tessa[/name]. Also, very lovely classy T names.

[name]Thora[/name] - This is such a strong option with it’s association to [name]Thor[/name]. Personally, I’ve always been a fan of strong names for girls. I think it could help them in so many ways throughout their lives. [name]Thora[/name] definitely fits the strong description, but it also ends in A which is very popular for girls. Other [name]ORA[/name] options are [name]Flora[/name] and [name]Cora[/name].

[name]Welcome[/name] to Nameberry!

[name]Adelaide[/name] - a royal name as well as a place name that still retains its vintage charm.

[name]Arden[/name] - one of the few unisex names I like.

[name]Cordelia[/name] - not my favourite Shakespearean name. A little too frilly and feminine for my taste.

[name]Daphne[/name] - spunky and sassy with a mythological connection.

[name]Holland[/name] - [name]Just[/name] another place name. Unlike [name]Adelaide[/name], it has no depth or history to back it up.

[name]Ianthe[/name] - I prefer [name]Xanthe[/name].

[name]Marla[/name] - too strongly associated with the ex-Mrs [name]Donald[/name] Trump [name]Marla[/name] Maples (aka the Other Woman).

[name]Nellie[/name] - I prefer just [name]Nell[/name]. [name]Nellie[/name] is too cutesy and its also a derogatory term for a effeminate man.

[name]Ottilie[/name] - [name]One[/name] of my favourite [name]German[/name] names along with [name]Anneliese[/name].

[name]Tabitha[/name] - for me, it still has an image of a little blond girl twiching her nose on “Bewitched”.

[name]Thora[/name] - Strong Scandinavian name that follows [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] out of the gate!

Faves: [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Arden[/name] and [name]Ottilie[/name].

[name]Adelaide[/name] - beautiful name, you can’t go wrong. nickname [name]Addie[/name] is great too. another idea would be [name]Adelheid[/name], nickname [name]Heidi[/name].
[name]Arden[/name] - I just don’t really like the sound of this, it has an odd flow.
[name]Cordelia[/name] - beautiful! my favorite from your list (also [name]Cornelia[/name], [name]Delia[/name], [name]Adelia[/name] are pretty)
[name]Daphne[/name] - cute
[name]Holland[/name] - I kind of like this. Are you from [name]Holland[/name] or do you just like the sound?
[name]Ianthe[/name] - I have o idea how to pronounce this…
[name]Marla[/name] - not my favorite, very old sounding.
[name]Nellie[/name] - cute nickname but not full name. Try Ornella, Nelsa, [name]Ellen[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Helen[/name], [name]Cornelia[/name], [name]Petronella[/name], [name]Lynelle[/name]
[name]Ottilie[/name] - pretty
[name]Tabitha[/name] - another nice choice
[name]Thora[/name] - love this

other ideas: [name]Nora[/name], [name]Alicia[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Linnea[/name], [name]Anatola[/name], [name]Audrey[/name]

[name]Adelaide[/name]- Wonderful!
[name]Arden[/name]- Meh
[name]Cordelia[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name]. Currently number two on my girl list
[name]Daphne[/name]- Eh…it is okay
[name]Holland[/name]- No
[name]Ianthe[/name]- Really nice. I also love [name]Iona[/name].
[name]Marla[/name]- Not my style
[name]Nellie[/name]- I like this as a nickname for [name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Ottilie[/name]- Really nice
[name]Tabitha[/name]- [name]Adore[/name]!
[name]Thora[/name]- I like it and actually knew a lovely girl name [name]Thora[/name].

Of this list, I love [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name] the most.

Thanks for your replies! It’s nice to know other people like some of the same names and I’m not committing a name crime against a daughter!

I felt the same about [name]Nellie[/name] being more of a nickname but wasn’t sure on a full name so thanks for giving me some ideas. I think I’m definitely leaning more towards [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Arden[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name] at the minute. [name]Thora[/name], for me, conjures up the image of a cute tom-boy who is always in wellies and I think it’s this that keeps making it more and more appealing as a name to me.

[name]Adelaide[/name]- So regal and it sounds like a sweet summery name. I highly reccomend it. I would use it in a heartbeat if it wasn’t my nieces name. My niece sometimes goes by [name]Addy[/name]
[name]Arden[/name]- This one seems a little harsh and not as timeless as [name]Adelaide[/name].
[name]Cordelia[/name]- It feels very regal and classic but a bit more modern. Plus, the nickname [name]Cora[/name] is lovely.
[name]Daphne[/name]- I see the appeal- classic but modern, but I see this name a lot on here.
[name]Holland[/name]- Not my style. I think place names are über trendy.
[name]Ianthe[/name]- This name will most likely have a lot of pronunciation problems
[name]Marla[/name]- Seems like a fifty year old lady to me.
[name]Nellie[/name]- Sounds too nicknamey. I’d like to see [name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Nellie[/name] used.
[name]Ottilie[/name]- Not my style.
[name]Tabitha[/name]- I love this!! It’s a subtle balance of everything. Classic, modern, sweet.
[name]Thora[/name]- All I see is [name]THOR[/name] and I think of the super hero.

I love [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], and [name]Tabitha[/name].

[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Gemma[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Olive[/name]

I like [name]Thora[/name] as well! And I just thought to suggest [name]Auden[/name] as well, as an alternative to [name]Arden[/name]. or [name]Autumn[/name].

I really love [name]Adelaide[/name]. If you wanted to avoid [name]Addy[/name], there’s also Lady which I think is very sweet for a nickname.

If you like [name]Cordelia[/name] and nn [name]Nellie[/name] than what about [name]Cornelia[/name]?

Some lovely names on your list I will make up some combos for you

[name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Arden[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Maria[/name]
[name]Ianthe[/name] [name]Helena[/name] [name]Paige[/name] prefer [name]Xanthe[/name] or [name]Xanthia[/name]
[name]Ottilie[/name] [name]Giselle[/name] [name]Raine[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Naomi[/name] [name]Skye[/name]
[name]Thora[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Wren[/name]

I think [name]Adelaide[/name] is an awesome name and love it with the nn [name]Ada[/name], if you didn’t want an [name]Addie[/name] (I love all three).
[name]Arden[/name] is not really my style of first name, but I think it is cool. I love it as a middle name!
[name]Daphne[/name] is adorable for a little girl or elegant on an adult.
I think [name]Thora[/name] is great, and I love your imagery with the name. I could completely see it.

Good luck choosing!
