I’m just compiling names and I’m wondering if there is something I’m overlooking. I’m extremely picky.
[name_f]My[/name_f] dds are [name_f]Maren[/name_f] and [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. What boys name would you pick to complete the set?
I have several girl names I’d use in a heartbeat but… no boy names stick out to me. I’ve been liking [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] lately but DH is not a fan. [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] is a perfect example of the type of name I’m looking for. I also love [name_u]Wade[/name_u], which DH truly hates.
[name_f]My[/name_f] criteria are:
nickname proof
*stands alone (I love [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and [name_m]Dan[/name_m] but everyone would assume they were [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] and [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. I don’t like that).
*one to two syllable
*easily spelled/pronounced
*Does not start with M or L
*has a long history of use
*Not within the top 1000 only because I’ve already read through them and none of them are “the one”.
*Also, our last name ends in S which nixes a lot of names I like, such as [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m].
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband has similar criteria but he likes names that aren’t “boring”. He likes [name_m]Captain[/name_m], [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], and [name_m]Enoch[/name_m]. His favorite is [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], which fits nicely with my preference for “old man” names but [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] just doesn’t feel like “the one” to me. I like [name_m]Shepard[/name_m] but I don’t like that there are numerous spellings. If there is a choice, I’ll always pick the option with the fewest letters.
Some compromises we can’t fully commit to: [name_m]Job[/name_m], [name_u]Eli[/name_u], and maybe [name_m]Watson[/name_m] (family name). Honestly, I’m looking for something like [name_f]Maren[/name_f] that we haven’t heard before. When we picked it, we loved that we could say “like [name_f]Karen[/name_f] with an M” so I’m open to that sort of thing as long as it is a real name with a history of use.
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Royce[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Ford[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Izar[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Elwood[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Wiley[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Trajan[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Gus[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Cyril[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Colm[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_m]Drake[/name_m]
You’re on to me. I thought about saying, I’d love if it had A,E, and N in it but then I said “no, that’s too much”. I do love the N sound. I love softer names.
You mentioned a lot of my likes. I’m going to mull over some of these. Thank you!
I’ve been thinking about [name_u]Cary[/name_u], [name_u]Elim[/name_u], and [name_m]Oren[/name_m]. You’ve given lots of others to think over too. Thank you!
I love [name_m]Abel[/name_m] but DH has said no. I suggested [name_m]Eben[/name_m] to him last night and he said he didn’t like it. I think he’s just as picky as I am. I like most of the names you’ve suggested but, don’t LOVE them. I do think these are all in the right direction though.
Assuming your in the US, if you’re looking for names outside of the US top 1000 have a look at the UK top 1000, often there are names here that are quite popular but barely heard in the states! xx
some examples -
[name_m]Chester[/name_m]
[name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_u]Freddie[/name_u]
[name_u]Alfie[/name_u]
[name_m]Albie[/name_m]
I love your daughter’s names! What about…
[name_u]Adler[/name_u]
[name_u]Sidney[/name_u]
[name_m]Decker[/name_m]
[name_u]Cade[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_u]Beck[/name_u]
[name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_m]Truman[/name_m]
[name_m]Ross[/name_m]
[name_m]Oren[/name_m]
A bunch of these are surname names, so I’m not sure how much use they have as first names, but I hope this helps!
I really like [name_m]Ross[/name_m], [name_u]Adler[/name_u], and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]! Unfortunately, DH can’t get over Friends and doesn’t like [name_m]Ed[/name_m] names. I think I suggested [name_u]Adler[/name_u] and he wasn’t too keen. I think he said “I thought you said ladder?”
I love [name_f]Maren[/name_f] & [name_f]Lena[/name_f] together! I love [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] with your girls it’s such a shame it’s been vetoed.
