I'm Pregnant!

So i posted a couple of weeks ago about having baby fever, though we were intending to wait to ttc for a few more months. Well, that might have been because I was pregnant and didn’t know it yet! I think it might be immaculate conception because DH and I tried to do the math and just can’t figure out how this happened this month. Anyhoo… I need to get serious about names! I have a link to my list in my signature. But I just don’t know if I’m feeling those names now that they are for a real human being. I would love some suggestions.
Our daughter’s name is [name]Virginia[/name] [name]June[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you berries think it would be okay to go with something a little more modern for my second child? Last time I compromised with DH and came up with [name]Virginia[/name] but I think he’ll be more flexible this time around so I’d like to pick something more modern. I’d still like it to fit with [name]VIrginia[/name] though.
Thanks in advance!

First of all, congratulations!

Second of all, LOL! You definitely don’t have to “get serious” about names just quite yet!!! But why wait on the fun part, right???

SOOOO
What do you mean by “modern”? I see many names here that I would consider old-fashioned but that are making a comeback and feel modern to many. Ex. [name]Jemima[/name] (NOT a favorite of mine), [name]Clementine[/name] (VERY old but now fresh again), [name]Luella[/name] etc etc. I would even put [name]Scout[/name] and [name]Harper[/name] in this group since they are literary names with an older source, but with relatively new-found popularity.

Or do you mean names like [name]Piper[/name], [name]Lark[/name], [name]Bryce[/name], [name]Remy[/name] etc?

I think you could go somewhat more modern for the next child, as long as it’s not anything ridiculously trendy ([name]Braydyn[/name] and Mackynzie would be odd choices, for example.) I think all the names on your list are fine with [name]Virginia[/name] [name]June[/name]. My favorites for girls are [name]Estelle[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Cosima[/name] [name]Noemi[/name] ([name]LOVE[/name] this), [name]Theodora[/name] [name]Plum[/name], and [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Louise[/name]. My favorites for boys are [name]William[/name] [name]Russel[/name] [name]Oakes[/name], [name]Hector[/name] [name]Sterling[/name], and [name]Hector[/name] [name]Wallace[/name] (I love the idea of nn Hex.) According to nymbler, you may like:
[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Philo[/name]
[name]Augustus[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Julius[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name]
[name]Claudio[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Clarisse[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Genevra[/name]
[name]Rosa[/name]
[name]Georgiana[/name]

Thanks for the suggestions! I know it sounds crazy to say i need to get serious about names, but last time I started looking before I was even pg and still didn’t hav eone picked out when she was born! So i want to be ready this time around so i can pick a name as soon as we find out the gender.

I’m not exactly sure what I mean by modern. I just know that alot the vintage names that used to sound quirky and fresh to me now sound boring. (ex. [name]Beatrice[/name], penelope, cordelia, most of the names on my list!) I like do like [name]Theodora[/name] [name]Plum[/name] as a combination, since the middle name feels very modern to me. And my new love is [name]Cosima[/name], which i know isn’t really modern but in the US it feels new. The only thing i know i want in a girl’s name is a formal name with a cute but usable nn.

As far as boy’s names go, I think I still like vintage names with a slightly western twang to them. That’s how i would describe it anyway.

I do like [name]August[/name] but I feel like I see that name everywhere these days. I have a feeling it’s about to get really popular. Although sometimes I think I was too afraid of using a popular name with my daughter which made it hard for DH and I to come up with a name we both loved.
I love [name]Frederick[/name] nn [name]Freddy[/name]. DH hates it of course!
I love [name]Georgiana[/name] and [name]Georgia[/name]. That was the first name that both DH and I loved and we had settled on it, but my inlaws said we couldn’t use it because of a college football rivalry
I guess I don’t know what I want anymore at all. Anyone have a name they just fell in love with that they want to share?
