so ive been using the name jack for a few months a i really thought it would be the name id use forever, but due to certain circumstances, I’ve started to resent it.
im looking for any masculine or gender neutral names. nothing too feminine.
some names ive used in the past:
wells
arris
jack
zephyr
i dont really like names that are too common, but i wouldnt be opposed to them.
some names im thinking about using that you might be able to get inspo from?;
percy
knox/nox
harley or harvey
When you say you don’t like names that are too common do you mean for your age cohort (in which case might be helpful to know your approx age) or that are common amongst current name trends?
[name_m]Just[/name_m] thinking that while say [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is pretty common now, I’m in my 30s and know no-one my age with that, so you might get something that feels contemporary but fresh amongst peers that way? whereas [name_m]Mark[/name_m] would be incredibly ubiquitous amongst my colleagues, but I only know one boy with this name.
so i’m 16, but i think overall i don’t like any common names if that makes sense. like no matter the “era” i don’t like normal names. i prefer names that are a bit uncommon or on the unique side. i don’t know if this helps much, but i hope it does.
So I heard a little boy at the playground named [name_m]Ajax[/name_m], and I could see that for you based on the names you listed.
I also noticed [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] on your list—I could see Jack+Zephyr coming into the more common [name_m]Zach[/name_m] or the more unusual [name_u]Zeke[/name_u].
From [name_m]Wells[/name_m] maybe something like [name_m]Wes[/name_m] would fit?
Yep. That totally helps. I think I got thrown by [name_m]Jack[/name_m], which to me reads as really common.
I love the suggestion of [name_m]Ajax[/name_m] and [name_m]Wes[/name_m] above, which I think works well with Arris and [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_u]Wesley[/name_u]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] (reads classy but super masculine to me)
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] (plus [name_u]Dash[/name_u] is such a great short form)
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] (immortal is hard to beat as a meaning)
[name_m]Leander[/name_m] (love the meaning lion-man)
[name_u]Hayes[/name_u] reminds me a lot of [name_m]Wells[/name_m]
[name_m]Clement[/name_m]
[name_m]Armin[/name_m]
[name_u]Tate[/name_u] (love that this means cheerful and the connotations with the art gallery, also fresh but easy to say)
[name_m]Zorion[/name_m] (cool Basque name that feels similar to zephyr)
[name_m]Henty[/name_m] (this feels really refreshing to me while again being easy to read)
[name_m]Finlo[/name_m]
[name_m]Skandar[/name_m]
