Imagery for Marceline?

Want a M name, preferably a [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- name that’s not from the [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] side of things, for a family member who’s passed on.

I like [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] but it’s a bit… cute, maybe. Whimsical, nature-y, and yes, just a bit sugary, and I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Sometimes I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and sometimes I feel like it’s not really usable as a FN.

Which brings me to [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] (with a long -een as in [name_f]Celine[/name_f]…). [name_m]How[/name_m] does it strike you?

[name_f]Marceline[/name_f] is my favourite name right now!

I have a thing for [name_m]French[/name_m] names which work well in English speaking countries. To me [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] is feminine yet strong.

Cool. Thank you freddiethepink! The descriptor “strong” helps me. I mean, I know it’s not kreative or super popular, but I don’t know what sort of image it conveys to other people beyond “…well, you don’t hear that every day.”

I’ve got a bit of a picture in my mind that I’ll probably post in a bit, but I want to see if other people are on a similar wave-length.

I think [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] is a beautiful name. For some reason it kind of give me the image of a fairy or maybe a princess…[name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f]. Pretty.

She could be anything she wants; a grand duchess or some such, or maybe a great warrior in the badlands of somewhere, fighting the good cause of justice, truth, and independence. I imagine long hair, green eyes, and a pointed chin, not the kind that lends a berg of the Titanic look but that looks slightly determined, though capable of great love and mercy. Tall and slender, strong, capable, beautiful, with the possibly more tom-boyish [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] as a nickname. All in all, it’s nice, although I doubt I would use it on my daughter.

I love the name [name_f]Marceline[/name_f], first heard it in the comic/cartoon Adventure Time. [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] the vampire [name_f]Queen[/name_f], so for me it’s feminine without being too frilly

I picture long hair, bright eyes, and a sweet nature. I also think a [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] would be bursting with energy, never resting but occasionally pausing to smell the roses.

I love [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] (or Marcelline). I see her as pretty, petite, and clever.

As very poised and elegant, serious and [name_m]French[/name_m]. I like it.

Thank you so much, everyone! I am definitely holding onto this one. I found myself nodding along with more than one post, and it’s a good place to be.

Thank you!

I think of a polished fashionista- Maybe like [name_u]Jackie[/name_u] O

[name_f]Marceline[/name_f] The Vampire [name_f]Queen[/name_f] is a character from the children’s tv show, Adventure Time, which has gained a cult following. She is an 18-21 year old vampire who is all in all, quite a good character. She is by far the fan favorite out of all the characters in the show. I believe this is where the majority of association would come from, and that’s definitely not a bad thing. As for the name, it’s very pretty and uncommon, and I agree the nickname [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] is nice.
