I haven’t seen a thread like this, so I’m really sorry if it already exists. What’s the imagery that makes you love your favorite combos? Does the imagery remind you of your childhood best friend? Your favorite time of year? A character you love? It can be the personality you imagine and/or the visuals (colors, patterns, random objects) you associate with the combo. Here’s an example: Runa Solace is, to my surprise, almost pink. Runa is a pinkish color to me, and Solace is gray and indigo swirled together, but somehow together they combine to make an even more beautiful pink. The combo as a while isn’t sparkly by any means, but there is the occasional glimmer in there. I imagine her to be a highly intuitive, empathetic, and introverted person, and responsible with an impulsive side that she desperately tries to keep hidden. She adores chocolate.
What about your favorite combos? They can be as detailed or as basic as you want.
I actually try to pick names that could have many imageries. For example, I can see [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] as long-haired and gushing over a puppy or a “[name_u]Lou[/name_u]” with a pixie cut and skateboarding bruises. I don’t want to put expectations on [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] that she must be this or that because I though the name “sounded” like that.
…that being said…
I do tend to think of [name_f]Roisin[/name_f] as a quieter girl, [name_f]Anwen[/name_f] likes to dance, and [name_u]Parker[/name_u] is not academically gifted
Hmm… I’ve never really thought about this before. Your imagery is beautiful! I struggle with visual thinking, so I’ll see what I’ve got:
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] “[name_u]Teddy[/name_u]” - This combo’s actually really new but it’s feels like the one for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. I just think of a giggling, smiling little blond boy. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] seems like such a happy name for me; I always smile when I say it. Sadly, colours don’t really come to me with names (or at all, for that matter).
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Winona[/name_f] [name_f]Ebba[/name_f] “[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]” - [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] invokes such pretty and vast imagery to me - like, a toddler covered in paint, but could just as easily be one with her head in a book. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] makes me think of blonde locks of hair curling at the shoulders (I dunno where all the blonde’s coming from - my family’s all very dark haired lol) and the cutest dimples and glasses sliding down a button nose. [name_f]Ebba[/name_f]'s an honour name so the (very amazing) person is my first thought.
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Altair[/name_m] “[name_m]Cas[/name_m]” - This invokes a different kind of image to me (most of the time, I visualize a baby/toddler when thinking about names). Instead, I think of a sassy teenager with a head of dark, messy hair and a little cute smirk, and the loudest laugh.
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] “[name_f]Lola[/name_f]” - To me, [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] invokes both young and older imagery - a four-year-old with long brown hair with curled tips and missing front teeth, or a twelve-year-old with too-big glasses and raised eyebrows.
Well, I tried.
I’ve thought about making little pictures that showcase these, but here are my snapshots of each of my combos.
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] Auli’i- [name_u]Bright[/name_u] pink, orange, and yellow sunset over the ocean, with the shadow of a palm tree backlit
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]- Not sure why, but this is a field of sunflowers. I know, why not irises? [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] is gold and brown to me, so I think that’s why
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]- Pastel purples, blues, and greens as flowers around a small pond
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] [name_f]Elysia[/name_f]- A grey, stone castle backdropped by a clear blue sky
[name_u]Parker[/name_u] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]- A big, full moon in a purple sky
[name_f]Eleni[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]- A gold crown with dark red rubies
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]- Large, green, full forest
[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_u]Micah[/name_u]- I picture a brick fireplace, not lit, with wood stacked next to it
[name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]- I also get a woodsy vibe from this, but I see a pack of majestic wolves walking through
[name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]Matteo[/name_m]- A red sailboat coming into shore
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]- Cobblestones on an old European street
I love this type of imagery! I’m not much into personal descriptions and personality imagery, but I definitely have colours and natural scenes I associate with all my names. Its quite important for me that my names have a very natural and beautiful image. For the names in my signature-
Zaffre [name_f]Rose[/name_f] -I know Zaffre is an gorgeous and intense colour of blue, but this name feels very soft to me, and more “rosy” then zaffre. I get pale colour imagery, pale pinks and lavender, and somewhat floral, but very basic, its not a busy or intense name. It also feels like a morning name to me. A little sleepy, beautiful early morning sunrises.
[name_f]Emerald[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] -This one also has a bit of that morning feel to me because of the meaning of [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. But on the other hand it also can feel very night time. I picture bright green aurora borealis against a black northern sky. I get a very northern feel from this name. It also feels very contrasting, in a good and natural way.
Zenith [name_m]Oaks[/name_m] -For some reason this name feels a little ancient to me. I picture huge, towering oak or even pine trees. It feels dark green, like looking deep into a thick forested area. I get a bit of an unending feeling, like the beautiful trees and and dappled sunlight going on and on and on. This name feels like an evening name to me, distant trees silhouetted against the fading sky.
[name_u]Sky[/name_u] [name_m]Bravery[/name_m] -Interestingly enough, this one almost has the least natural feel to me. I picture an bright blue afternoon sky, and high, high up an airplane flying. It just gives that happy, summery days feel to me. It feels like laughing, happy times and carefreeness.
