[name_m]Just[/name_m] adding: obviously if I used [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] (or even [name_f]Emelda[/name_f]) I wouldn’t be using [name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] in my signature. And vice versa. Oh god, I might have to choose.
I had no idea who [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] [name_m]Marcos[/name_m] was. My first thought is actually of actress [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] Staunton, who I quite like. I think it’s a lovely name.
I really like [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] and didn’t know who [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] [name_m]Marcos[/name_m] was until now. My only association is with [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] Staunton, and I think she’s quite talented.
Like a lot of others in this thread, I had no idea who [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] [name_m]Marcos[/name_m] was and I thought of [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] Staunton too. I think it’s a very pretty name and totally usable
I’m the opposite to many others in the thread, I thought of [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] [name_m]Marcos[/name_m] without you mentioning her and don’t know who [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] Staunton is! Though to be fair it’s not an automatic association I would get every time I saw the name so much as having been prompted by your title to things about associations with the name [name_f]Imelda[/name_f], she was the first one I came up with. I still think it’s usable.
I did think of her, as well as of actress Staunton.
I don’t think the associations completely taint the name, but I do think [name_f]Emelda[/name_f] is slightly prettier.
I first thought of [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] Staunton and then of [name_m]Marcos[/name_m]. While the [name_m]Marcos[/name_m] association is unfortunate, I don’t think it should stop you from putting it on your list – Staunton, I think, has also done a lot to bring good associations to the name, methinks
