Thoughts? I never really see it mentioned on here whereas the similar-in-feel [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] seems very popular, possibly because of its slightly lighter / more wearable feel from the familiar [name_u]Isa[/name_u]- beginning shared with the popular [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], and the obvious nickname options unlike [name_f]Imelda[/name_f]. I love its clunky-cool, nerdy and dark academia vibe.
Ya, itās cool.
I really love [name_f]Imelda[/name_f]. Iāve only met one and she is Albanian and beautiful! Itās not a name Iād likely use IRL but I would love to meet another [name_f]Imelda[/name_f]!
Another one that reminds me of this is [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]. I get cool, slightly dark (but in a mysterious intriguing way - not a bad way!), mythical, almost ethereal vibes. Like woods and stars and deep eyes.
I used to love [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] so much. I still do.
@justlikeflorida Your description of [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] is how I see [name_f]Unice[/name_f]. I got [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] on a āyour name (__'s version)ā thread, and started liking her after finding out the pn. The meaning also fits very well .
I love [name_f]Imelda[/name_f]!
Love!!
I like [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] a lot! Itās fairly common (though not overly common) in my community (Irish). I think it has a beautiful sound and feels elegant and polished. āDark academiaā is a great description.
I really love the name [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] too. My name is Hilwa, and Iām from Indonesia. In my opinion, Imelda is a beautiful name with a unique charm. I have an aunt named [name_f]Imelda[/name_f], affectionately called ā[name_m]Emil[/name_m].ā FYI, she was named by that because my grandfather used to watch [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] [name_m]Marcos[/name_m] on TV. As for my aunt, she is an outgoing, joyful, and active person. It suits her name perfectly.
Makes me think of [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] Staunton which in turn makes me think of [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] Umbridge. I mean, she played her fabulously but still not something I want to think of when I name a child.
Iāve loved [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] for a long time, since I discovered the singer [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] . For me [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] is more wearable than [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] who was a wizardy children tv character in the UK when I was growing up, and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] which I think is only really accessible and beautiful if you know the story of tristan and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]. Iām actually suprised that [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] hasnāt grow in popularity when it feels similar to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] & [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but far more unusual.
[name_f]Imelda[/name_f] is both feminine and cool and edgy at the same time.
I quite like [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] - sharp but soft in sound, with a sort of floral vibe?
I know an [name_f]Imelda[/name_f], sheās such a sweetheart so I have a good association with the name. Iād assume an [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] is Latina cause the only ones Iāve met/heard of are Latina. [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] is darker jewel tones to me, but very very bubbly. I do think itās more of an older/middle aged woman type name but I could see it on someone younger. I can totally see it being a clunky-cool type name
Very pretty name
[name_f]My[/name_f] only association of [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] is [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] Staunton (and thus also [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] Umbridge).
I love the nicknames Immie and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] so really [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] should be on my list, but itās still in a dated space in my brain.
I really like the name [name_f]Imelda[/name_f], if you are worried about the nickname you could do something like [name_f]Immy[/name_f], or Dela/Delah. Overall, I think the name [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] is gorgeous and gives a very adventurous vibe, with almost Viking/Norse undertones.
I appreciate [name_f]Imelda[/name_f]? [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] is one of my most favorite names of all time, so I obviously prefer the [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] family, but we have a close family friend named [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] and sheās super lovely (sheās [name_f]Filipina[/name_f], so it feels very [name_f]Filipina[/name_f] to me, but I guess that wouldnāt be the expected association? I honestly donāt know though). Sheās just [name_f]Imelda[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f] or [name_u]Mel[/name_u] would work well, even [name_f]Ida[/name_f] even though theyāre said quite different. I could even see Lily/Lila as a stretch, or Della/Del/Ellie/Ella.
I donāt know that Iād love it without the [name_f]Imelda[/name_f] I know, but I do think it would be interesting to meet a little [name_f]Imelda[/name_f]. Itās a nice name.
I have liked it ever since I made a new friend about 2 years ago. She was introduced to me as [name_u]Mel[/name_u], so I assumed her name was [name_f]Melanie[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f], [name_f]Melinda[/name_f] or [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] (as every [name_u]Mel[/name_u] Iāve ever met has been named).
But I found out at some stage later on that her full name is [name_f]Imelda[/name_f], and I just thought that was the most perfect and unexpected name to use [name_u]Mel[/name_u] as a nickname for.
I, too, quite like [name_f]Imelda[/name_f]ā perhaps one of the very best examples of an appealing yet distinctly clunky name.
[name_f]Immy[/name_f] and [name_u]Mel[/name_u] would make cute nicknames.
I think itās beautiful. Now, my kid might have liked [name_u]Coco[/name_u] a bit too much because I canāt help but hear it with the voice of [name_m]Miguel[/name_m] calling āMama Imeldaā
The one I knows nn is [name_f]Lili[/name_f]!
