Go for it! I like that it’s meaningful to you, unusual, and the pronunciation is intuitive. I’d never heard this name before but was reminded of [name_m]Fielder[/name_m], which I’ve seen recently. I think Kielder works for a first or middle. It would probably be received better as a middle because it seems like a surname. Putting it in the first place would mean explaining it more often to people for whom it is unfamiliar. I would have some concern that it could be misheard as kill-deer, but I don’t think that would be a huge issue.

I think you should use any name that has such strong associations for you. If you are concerned about negative comments maybe use it as a mn. I quite like [name_m]Kiel[/name_m] as a nn though

I’m not really into surname names (these surname names that actually sound more like surnames), but there’s something special about Kielder. I think it’s quite handsome. I don’t know its origin, but it sounds a bit [name_m]German[/name_m] to me and I like it. I think meaningful names are always a good idea.
