Imogen or Isobel

[name]Hi[/name] everyone. Getting to that stage in life where I am thinking of children! So not ttc just yet but love thinking about names!

I’d love to use [name]Sarah[/name] as a middle name because it is my sister’s middle name, as well as the name of a close family friend who we lost last year.

I keep thinking of [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Isobel[/name]…but which one goes best with [name]Sarah[/name]?

I prefer [name]Isobel[/name] to honest. [name]Isobel[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] is lovely.

[name]Imogen[/name] seems to get a lot of love on Nameberry, but I never seen the appeal.

I really like both names but I prefer [name]Imogen[/name] to [name]Isobel[/name] as I’m not that keen on that spelling for [name]Isabelle[/name]. I personally think [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] is nicer that [name]Isobel[/name] [name]Sarah[/name].

I love [name]Imogen[/name] and thinks it works better with [name]Sarah[/name]. With [name]Isobel[/name], you get the “S” sound again.

I prefer [name]Isabel[/name] to [name]Isobel[/name], but prefer [name]Isobel[/name] to [name]Imogen[/name].

[name]Isobel[/name] definitely.

I love [name]Isobel[/name], specifically with that spelling. It’s lovely. [name]Imogen[/name] just sounds strange to me.

It makes me happy to see so much [name]Isobel[/name] love. As you can see in my signature, I prefer the [name]Isabelle[/name] spelling, but [name]Isobel[/name] and [name]Isabel[/name] are lovely. While I appreciate [name]Imogen[/name] and do love it, [name]Isabelle[/name] is my top choice for a girl and I can’t really vote against it! [name]Isobel[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] is very sweet and charming.

[name]Imogen[/name] sounds a bit choppy and harsh to my ear. I prefer [name]Isobel[/name] (or [name]Isabel[/name]… I kind of prefer those two pared down spellings to the -belle ending).

I prefer [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]- there are less repetitive sounds and something about this combo seems more unexpected.

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] has better flow to me.

I really love both names, but would go with [name]Imogen[/name]. [name]Isobel[/name] (I [name]LOVE[/name] this spelling) is gorgeous, but the name is sooooo popular right now. [name]Imogen[/name] is so much more unique and interesting - but still a real name!

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] has a nice flow

I love the spelling [name]Isobel[/name]. [name]Imogen[/name] is also a nice choice, but I just don’t like how it looks on paper.

I’m not a fan of [name]Imogen[/name], but I have to admit that [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] has a very lovely sound to it. [name]Isobel[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] doesn’t really do it for me. Also, how are you pronouncing [name]Isobel[/name]? I’ve always wondered about this: I can’t help but pronounce it more with an “oh” sound than an “a” sound, like [name]Isabelle[/name]. Is that correct or are they pronounced the same?

So sorry about your loss!

I love [name]Isobel[/name], it sounds so glamorous.

Thank you for your responses. I would pronounce it as “Is-oh-bell”. I used to like the [name]Isabelle[/name] spelling but have now ventured towards the [name]Isobel[/name] version, but I am not sure why! Any other names that go well with [name]Sarah[/name]? I like “pretty” girl names, but not something that wont suit an older child/teen/adult as well

I think I prefer [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]. As a previous poster said, there is something unexpected about the combo.

I love [name]Isobel[/name] (and this spelling), but I love [name]Imogen[/name], too. I think [name]Imogen[/name] is a better match with [name]Sarah[/name]. I also much prefer the possible nicknames for [name]Imogen[/name]. I love [name]Isobel[/name] in its entirely, but am tired of belle and [name]Elle[/name]; and I have never seen the appeal of [name]Izzy[/name]. If you name her [name]Isobel[/name], I would fight hard to keep it [name]Isobel[/name].

[name]Imogen[/name] is the winner for me. [name]Isobel[/name] is lovely just so overused.
