I do this all the time. I think the meaning of a name is probably the most important factor to me. Sometimes I find names growing on me that I wouldn’t ever have considered before simply because I find out the meaning and it appeals to me. And on the other hand, sometimes names I really really liked the sound of have dropped down my lists considerably because the meaning doesn’t appeal to me at all. Also, I like to look up names to combine the first and middle names into something poetic.
