[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
Back in my one syllable name loving phase today
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Jill[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] & [name_u]Anne[/name_u], but today I also thought of [name_f]Kate[/name_f], something I’d never really considered before. It feels kind, sensible and professional, and a name that would suit someone in all stages of life. I also like the nickname [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. What I like about one syllable names is that they don’t get shortened (James to [name_m]Jim[/name_m] is an exception).
I’m considerint adding [name_f]Kate[/name_f] to my list. I also love the meaning “pure”, descending as an offshoot of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], which came from the Greek word “katharos”.
What do you think of [name_f]Kate[/name_f]? And what vibes / impressions / imagery do you get?
Thank you
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. She’s sleek and elegant, but can be sweet and cute as well. She can be anyone. She’s perfect for my tastes, but I need to get over a bad association
I love [name_f]Kate[/name_f]! If I didn’t already have several Catherine/Katies in my life it would totally be on my list. It feels mature, spohisticated, a bit sporty, funny in a subtle witty way, and very put together but still feels youthful enough for a kid too especially with the nn potential of [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. I get bright blue and green energy, sky and cobalt blue with kelly/grass green and a small sprinkle of sunshine yellow. A soccer field under a clear sky with a white and yellow ball? But also wearing a classy tan trench coat and oxford shoes while sitting under a tree in the park next to some spring flowers like daffodils or crocuses and reading some sort of non-fiction book, possibly a funny and thought provoking memoir or about a subject she’s deeply interested in (which in my mind is likely somewhat STEM related).
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] is charming - strong, sophisticated but friendly too
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a bright, passionate red to me - she’s Shakespeare’s fiery ‘shrew’, she’s [name_m]Captain[/name_m] Janeway, she’s a pirate queen or highway-woman. It’s pure confidence and spark. I picture an outdoorsy little girl getting into scrapes and commanding the troops during playtime, growing up to be witty, self-assured and a lot of fun. I love that it’s one of those old old nicknames like [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_f]Bess[/name_f] but manages to sound perfectly contemporary too.
‘I see a woman may be made a fool,
If she had not a spirit to resist’
I absolutely love the simplicity and elegance of [name_f]Kate[/name_f] . I love that it’s a versatile name that wears well throughout a life time. I can imagine it on a baby and on someone later in life
I also think [name_f]Kate[/name_f] fits perfectly with the other names you like , [name_f]Faith[/name_f] , [name_f]Jill[/name_f] , [name_f]Hope[/name_f] , [name_f]Rose[/name_f] , [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_u]Anne[/name_u]
Not too be a wet blanket, but I get zero impressions when I hear [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. It’s such a common name where I live—there are tons of Kates and Kathys and Katies, so now it’s just kind of a blank name to me.
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] is such a fun name! The word I feel that best describes it is versatile. It works on any sort of girl, any age, any profession, any personality, etc. and is so many things at once, with them all being true. Someone could describe [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as childish or sophisticated and both absolutely make sense.
Somewhere between an uppity [name_f]English[/name_f] teenager with tight curls and card games in her pocket book—and a crass, giddy dog-lover with a bow and arrow and a knack for mischief.
(I’m thinking the literary [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u] and the comic world’s [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_m]Bishop[/name_m], here! )
That is to say… [name_f]Kate[/name_f] works as much here:
as she does here:
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a playful, warm, buttoned-up, and buttoned-down name. She’s incredibly versatile! Fits in with the [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_f]Beth[/name_f] crowd as well as she does in the [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] crowd.
I have a [name_f]Kate[/name_f], so I’m biased and love the name. Mine loves to dress up, whether it’s in a tulle skirt or her brothers’ too-big clothing, and is always singing and dancing. She’s a lot of fun but also quite clever and keeps me on my toes. I see [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as a streamlined, classy choice, either short for a longer variation, or like mine: just [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. It suits her so well, I would love to see some other little Kates!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Katie[/name_f]!
That’s lovely! Thank you!
