[name_m]Hi[/name_m], what are your honest impressions of “[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]” Although the name is very familiar to me I have never actually known any Natalies so it doesn’t sound dated to my ears but I’ve seen some commenters say that it feels dated. Babynamewizard shows that the name hit its peak popularity in 2008, but its definitely been in use for a long time so they list it as a “new classic” What are your impressions of this name? Would you use it for a baby?
My impression of someone named [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] would be a woman who is sweet, always has a smile on her face and who can be sort of reserved but not unkind. I’ve known a couple of [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]'s and both are in their 20s. It doesn’t quite feel dated to me. I do like the name and would use it for a daughter, but DH isn’t a huge fan of it.
A sweet, smart girl comes to mind. The Natalies I know are very friendly and kind to others, and its easy to get along with them. I really don’t think it feels dated, and with popular actresses named [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] ([name_f]Natalie[/name_f] Portman, [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] Dyer) I feel like it is still popular enough, but definitely not too popular. I would definitely use it for a baby, I think its a nice name!
It does feel very dated to me. I’ve met quite a few, and it’s my cousin’s name, and it feels very early 80s/90s to me. I much prefer [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] which I don’t think is nearly as dated.
There are 4 in my grade in high school, and I know several others in high school. I know one who is about 6 and my first impression was “she’s a little young to be a [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]”
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f] is the cute girl who is really smart and athletic. She is the one who has sparkling eyes and freckles, fits in easily, but isn’t loud and obnoxious. [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] is literally the daughter we all want.
I think [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] is lovely-- beautiful and elegant without being imposing. I am always puzzled when people say it is dated because I know only a couple of Natalies. One is an adult in her 60s and the other is in her late teens. Based on my own experience (without consulting statistics), I wouldn’t even be able to figure which time period it is associated with. I think of [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] as an underused classic.
I know a [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], early 20s, with red crazy curling hair. She’s quiet, but smart and a social butterfly. She enjoys music/bands and is often involved in fundraisers around town with her friends.
