Impressions on Evolet and Eponine

What are your impressions of these names: Evolet and [name_f]Eponine[/name_f]?
We are seriously considering these for our baby girl, are in love, but are worried that perhaps they are too weird.
Evolet is pronouneced Ev-Uh-Let.
[name_f]Eponine[/name_f] would go by [name_f]Nina[/name_f] as a nickname and Evolet probably by [name_f]Etta[/name_f] or [name_f]Lettie[/name_f].

I don’t think they’re weird at all, just rare. I have a soft spot for [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] because she’s my favorite [name_u]Les[/name_u] Miserables character, but I think there might be some trouble with the pronounciation, if that bothers you.
Evolet is a really great name! I say go for it. I don’t know if you are planning to use them both, but I would pair either of them with a more traditional middle name, eg Evolet [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

These names are not my style but I prefer Evolet to [name_f]Eponine[/name_f]. I think pronounciation would be an issue with both names.

They’re nice names. My only thing is for some reason I can’t shake the feeling that Evolet with end up as a product name. I just feel like it sounds futuristic enough to be used for something. I hope that makes sense.

They’re not my style, but if I had to choose I’d go with Evolet. I like the nickname [name_f]Nina[/name_f] for [name_f]Eponine[/name_f], but the first syllable just makes me associate it with epo the performance enhancing drug in sports.

Evolet is interesting and I think t could grow on me, whereas [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] reminds me of a pony or a drug.

These are really pretty! Evolet makes me think of a hybrid name of [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] sounds like the goddess Epona. So nice!

I haven’t heard of Evolet before, but I am in love. I also adore the nickname [name_f]Etta[/name_f].
I also really like [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] and the nickname [name_f]Nina[/name_f], but I think Evolet wins this competition for me.
Evolet is the perfect balance of unique, down to earth, and beautiful.

Neither name is my style. I could definitely foresee pronounciation issues, but if you love them, go for it

Evolet remind me of [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], etc. but it doesn’t have the same first-name-quality as the others, it sounds more like a last name à la Capulet (from [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] & [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]) to me.
[name_f]Eponine[/name_f] is a quite tragic name, I do love the character but the name is so heavily associated with [name_u]Les[/name_u] Misérables, I’d probably put it in the middle name spot.

[name_m]Reading[/name_m] the other comments, I agree with theirishsaint, Evolet does have a “product name” vibe, could be some hygiene product or a car name.

Evolet - I like it a lot. I like that it reminds me of [name_f]Violet[/name_f], still could have the nns [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (or [name_f]Etta[/name_f], or [name_f]Eva[/name_f]), and I love that the idea of it was supposed to be “the love” spelled backwards (that charm doesn’t work with [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f] for me, lol, but oh, well!). I think it’s charming, and [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] and Evolet are pretty adorable as sisters!

[name_f]Eponine[/name_f] - I always wondered what nn an [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] could get–I don’t know why I didn’t think of [name_f]Nina[/name_f]?! I lovelovelove that it reminds me of [name_u]Les[/name_u] Miserables, which is one of my very, very favorite literary works ever, but I have always liked [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] Valjean best as characters, so the character tie isn’t as charming to me as the tie to the novel in general.

I am voting for Evolet, but I’m sure the right combo could have me voting for [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] instead.

Good luck!

[name_f]Eponine[/name_f] is a beautiful. I actually prefer it as Éponine.

I remember from your other post that your other children are [name_m]Marvin[/name_m] and [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] - all such wonderful names.

I’ll be honest, or at least more thorough, in my response this time. I strongly suggest that instead of Evolet you consider the name [name_f]Violette[/name_f] (pronounced the proper way of vee-uh-let). It is nearly the same name, but quite a bit less confusing, and the qualities of [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Violette[/name_f] are so lovely together as they are both [name_m]French[/name_m].

Evolet is a nice name in the context of making up names on this site. I like it much better than Brookelle or Jaynia or others I’ve seen here. But in real life, honestly, Evolet makes me think of a pharmaceutical or the name of a company that manufactures parts for planes.

I know you want another ‘E’ name, but I feel like so few names E names really go with [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]. Many are too common or contain prominent 'L’s that already abound in [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]. I’d much sooner recommend [name_f]Esther[/name_f] than Evolet.

Evolet is very pretty

I vote [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] over Evolet. I love nn [name_f]Nina[/name_f]!

[name_m]Marvin[/name_m], [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eponine[/name_f].
Evolet sounds like evil-ette so when you call her [name_f]Etta[/name_f], she’ll have to say “My real name is EVIL [name_f]Etta[/name_f].”

My grandmother was a fan of E names and came up with 9 of them for her daughters. Are you open to other E names?

I’m very much open to different E names @Care! Naming this baby has certainly been a challenge!

I love [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] in [name_u]Les[/name_u] Misérables, but I am just so-so on her name. Evolet is quite pretty, rare and interesting.
