In dire need of girl name suggestions

Greetings all.

My wife and I are expecting our first. It’s a girl. I was hoping to have a name by now, but to no avail. I guess we are both pickier than even anticipated when it came to agreeing to a name. Our due date is [name_u]June[/name_u] 13, so we are about 2 weeks from the third trimester. Oh My! That thought is frightening. She’s coming very soon. OK. Focus. Here are a list of names that we both like.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] – We really like its simplicity and it’s quite beautiful sounding. Problem is, many people love it too. That has turned both of us off a tad.

[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] – We both like it. I get the sense that I like it a lot more than my wife. If [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] was a bit less popular, say 30+ spots, then I think I would advocate for it hard. It is probably my favorite currently. Still a slight chance we pick this name.

[name_f]Arella[/name_f] – pronounced a-rel-la. The a is a short sounding a like in car or bar, as opposed to the first syllable in [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. Generally, we prefer the short a. I think it’s nice sounding. I like this more than my wife.

[name_f]Bella[/name_f] – We both like it, but we prefer it as a nickname. I think this ranks towards the bottom of the names we are considering.

[name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] – I think my wife likes the fact that [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is a possible nickname. But she isn’t super in-love with it, but she does like the name. It’s a top 3 on my list.

[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] – I’m not really sold on this name. I think it’s the “[name_f]Mira[/name_f]” in the beginning of the name that turns me off. It seems to be my wife’s favorite name so far. Aside from [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f], are there other variations for [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]? Please share if you have any ideas.

[name_u]Bailey[/name_u] – We both like it. But I associate this name with being a very popular name for a dog. So, we’re kind of turned off. We just moved into a new neighborhood and we recently met the family across the street and their dog’s name is [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]. If it weren’t for that, I think it’d be a top 3 name on both of our lists easily. We are still considering it.

[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - we really like this name for a girl, but don’t know if it’ll “backfire” since it’s more commonly a name given to boys.

We’re open to any suggestions.

[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] maybe? Or [name_f]Maribel[/name_f]?

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] would go well with nickname [name_f]Bella[/name_f], and it’s adorable.

More suggestions:
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]River[/name_u]

[name_u]Logan[/name_u] is adorable!

We like [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f], but wouldn’t the nickname be [name_f]Ana[/name_f]?

I imagine the pronounciation of [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] are different.

Maybe [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] as an alternative for [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]? You could “cheat” your way to a [name_f]Belle[/name_f]/[name_f]Bella[/name_f] nickname with it if you wanted to, by calling her something like [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and then dropping the first part.

Names that are less popular and have a similar vibe to [name_f]Ava[/name_f]: [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]/[name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f]

I also feel like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]/[name_f]Silvia[/name_f] has a similar vibe to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] but I don’t know if I’m the only person who thinks that because I’m surprised it hasn’t seen an increase in usage with the rise of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].

[name_f]Maribel[/name_f]? Hmmm. Spanish version, right?

I just found [name_f]Mireille[/name_f] as an idea. Not sure what my wife would think. Yeah, I think [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] just sounds better than [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], so I’m not surprised on the rise in popularity compared to [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. It’s just pleasant sounding

I love [name_u]Logan[/name_u]. But fear some people might find it should be only a boy’s name. Not sure if there is much stigma.

Am I being ridiculous here?

[name_f]Ava[/name_f]–Pretty, could use [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Ida[/name_f], [name_f]Aveline[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]–I still like this too. I have seen [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] suggested as an alternative. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] also has a similar sound.
[name_f]Arella[/name_f]–this feels incomplete to me. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Ariella[/name_f], [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], [name_f]Adela[/name_f]?
[name_f]Bella[/name_f]–I like this. It’s used as a nickname for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], so I don’t see why not [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f].
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]–a bit frilly to me. [name_f]Mariel[/name_f]/[name_f]Marielle[/name_f] is OK.
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]–doggy to me too. [name_u]Haley[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], or [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] might work.
[name_u]Logan[/name_u]–I think of this as a boy’s name, but looks like it’s relatively popular for girls too. I tend not to like boys names like [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] used on girls, but when it’s a surname name it doesn’t bug me as much.

[name_f]Belinda[/name_f] or [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] (nicknamed [name_f]Belle[/name_f])

[name_u]London[/name_u] (slightly more feminine than [name_u]Logan[/name_u]?)

[name_u]Riley[/name_u], [name_u]Brinley[/name_u], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] (as alternatives to [name_u]Bailey[/name_u])

I think [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] is a great option. You could definitely use [name_f]Belle[/name_f] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f] as the nickname instead of [name_f]Anna[/name_f]/[name_f]Ana[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f].

Suggestions:
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Nella[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]

[name_f]Anabelle[/name_f] could be [name_f]Ana[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. you don’t always have to go with a “set” nickname, especially with a name that has more options. the pronunciation is up to you. I would say them the same way, but I know other people would say them differently.

Here are some suggestions for you to consider…

[name_f]Ana[/name_f]
[name_f]Annalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Annora[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] ([name_u]LEE[/name_u] o nee, [name_m]LAY[/name_m] o nee)
[name_m]Landon[/name_m]

Well, from your list my favorites are [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] and [name_u]Logan[/name_u]. I had a female coworker named [name_u]Logan[/name_u] once, and it definitely seemed feminine and fitting for her. If you want a similar sounding one that is less boyish, you can try [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] or [name_u]Teagan[/name_u]. I also see you have [name_f]Bella[/name_f] up there on its own, and your wife likes [name_f]Belle[/name_f] as a nickname, so why not just [name_f]Belle[/name_f]? It seems like you two have a style that’s part unisex and part frilly, so my suggestion is to use a [name_u]Logan[/name_u]-type name in the first and [name_f]Belle[/name_f] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f] as the middle.

What about . . .

[name_u]June[/name_u] / [name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivine[/name_f] / [name_f]Olivette[/name_f] / [name_f]Olivet[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f] ([name_m]AH[/name_m]-vah-lon)
[name_f]Araceli[/name_f] / [name_f]Aracelia[/name_f] / Aracelie (ah-RAH-seh-lee)
[name_f]Amabel[/name_f] (I’d say AHR-mah-belle)
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Abrielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Christabel[/name_f] etc. (there are oodles of -elle ending names you might like!)
Ismeria / Ismerie
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Morgana[/name_f]
Annet
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_f]Mariel[/name_f] / [name_f]Meriel[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariana[/name_f]
[name_u]Averil[/name_u] ([name_m]AH[/name_m]-ver-rill)
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f] / [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] / [name_u]Auburn[/name_u]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] love love [name_u]Logan[/name_u] for a girl

Have you considered [name_f]Amabel[/name_f]? It can also be spelt [name_f]Amabelle[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f], [name_f]Maribel[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Annabella[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]. [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] is my personal favourite, though.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Belinda[/name_f] and then you can still use the nickname [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. Otherwise I suggest just going with [name_f]Bella[/name_f] it seems to be clearly your favorite.

I second the suggestions of [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] and [name_u]London[/name_u]. I do like [name_u]Logan[/name_u] for a girl, though I’ve only known boys with that name.

What about:
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] [name_u]Logan[/name_u] or [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]

My sister [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] was nicknamed [name_f]LoLo[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f], too. It’s feminine and sophisticated but still cute on a little girl and not too fussy for a teen.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Logan[/name_u]

[name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is pretty, too.

Good luck!
