Currently I’m lucky enough to be on holiday with my family in [name_f]France[/name_f]. While I was waiting for my mother and one of my brothers to finish looking around a little souvenir shop in a village just a couple of hours out from [name_u]Paris[/name_u], I noticed hand made bowls with loads of different names on them - some of them I really wouldn’t have expected as well (you know you’re a name lover when you’re in one of the most beautiful countries in the world and you’re thinking, “I wonder what people on nameberry would think about these names?”). I snapped a few pictures of the bowls to look to look at back at the hotel and pulled out a few of the more uncommon names.
Girls
[name_f]Samira[/name_f]
Peneloppe (spelled this way)
[name_f]Roxane[/name_f]
[name_f]Ninon[/name_f] (girls name? boys? both?)
[name_f]Ketty[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeva[/name_f]
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]
[name_f]Meline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucie[/name_f]
Ludivine (i think)
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Ondine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabina[/name_f]
[name_f]Susy[/name_f]
Boys
[name_m]Pascal[/name_m]
[name_m]Reginald[/name_m]
[name_m]Thierry[/name_m]
Théo
[name_f]Perrine[/name_f] (not 100% sure about the gender or if its unisex)
Papy (again, not too sure about gender)
[name_u]Blane[/name_u]
[name_m]Marvin[/name_m]
There were also names there that were more common but I wouldn’t have expected to see many of them on children these days ([name_f]Tiffany[/name_f], [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], [name_m]Nathan[/name_m] and [name_m]Scott[/name_m]) - though that may be to cater for the adults looking for personalised souvenirs.
Anyway, what do you think? Are there any that strike you as surprising or unexpected? And does anyone know anything about the really uncommon names or uncommon spellings (such as [name_f]Ketty[/name_f], [name_f]Ninon[/name_f], Ludivine, Papy, Peneloppe). Are there any you really love?
