I went with [name_u]Parker[/name_u] [name_f]Melanie[/name_f]. It’s a nice name, though nms, and if you love it then that’s your business and not your family’s! I love [name_u]Harper[/name_u] for a girl, but I think [name_u]Parker[/name_u] flows better with [name_f]Melanie[/name_f].
I like [name_u]Parker[/name_u] but [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] is my favourite. Go with whatever you love, don’t mind whatever anybody else says. All of those names are acceptable, and lovely.
I think [name_u]Parker[/name_u] is perfectly fine on a girl. It’s got that spunkiness of unisex names. [name_u]Parker[/name_u] [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] is lovely!
I love all the options you listed above actually! I think [name_u]Parker[/name_u] [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] is darling though so that got my vote! My mother is actually the opposite though - she much prefers [name_u]Parker[/name_u], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], etc. (and I do love those names) but I have [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], etc on my list and she dislikes them
I didn’t vote, but it’s you and your partner who get to name your children - not your mother. To agree with your partner on a name/names is a great start; some couples never get there! So I would go with [name_u]Parker[/name_u] or [name_u]Harper[/name_u] or whatever you and your partner - not your family - agree on!
I don’t really like [name_u]Parker[/name_u], it is all boy to me and there aren’t really any nicknames that I like with it.
I voted for [name_u]Harper[/name_u].
[name_u]Blake[/name_u] is ok, I prefer [name_u]Blakeley[/name_u]. [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] works well on a girl, I just don’t like it very much.
And I like the sound of [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], but I would always spell it [name_u]Aspyn[/name_u]. ‘[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] is’ is just too close to ‘ass penis’ - so much so that on a different name site which has an automatic filter for ‘rude’ words you can’t write the sentence ‘I think [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] is nice’ because it changes it to ‘I think As nice’. And that just puts me off so much.
What do you think of [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]? I used to feel it was all boy, but I like that you can use the nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u].
I actually think that all your poll options work well on a girl. My personal favorite is [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], i like the sound of it and the imagenery it creates.
I have a good friend with a [name_u]Parker[/name_u], and she is a confident, fun, spunky kid and definitely wears it well. And there’s [name_u]Parker[/name_u] [name_f]Posy[/name_f], which is a plus in my mind. I say go for it!
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] is more popular these days. I like [name_u]Blake[/name_u], and the others you’re considering… [name_m]How[/name_m] about some of these similar names, for consideration? :
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_u]Wynter[/name_u]
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u]
[name_f]Kimber[/name_f]
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f], or [name_f]Pietra[/name_f]
[name_u]Carey[/name_u]
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Haven[/name_u]
[name_f]Kinsley[/name_f]
[name_u]Keeley[/name_u]
Keelan
[name_f]Hettie[/name_f] (could be short for [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Henriette[/name_f], [name_f]Hester[/name_f], etc. or stands on its own)
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]
While nms, I do think in this day and age, you could choose any of those names for a girl, and nobody would bat an eyelid. I voted for [name_u]Peyton[/name_u], only because it’s my favourite of the names on your list (and a name I have always loved). I do see [name_u]Parker[/name_u] as more boy, but again I think it is perfectly usable for a girl today if it is the name you love the most.
I strongly dislike [name_u]Harper[/name_u], I can’t past the ‘whiny’ imagery- to me it sounds like you’re referring to your child as a whinger - eg: she just harps on and on and on… she’s such a harper. It sounds like an annoying bratty child that nobody wants to be around (at least to me), so I can’t bring myself to like that name.
[name_u]Blake[/name_u] to me will always be 100% boy, but I do know of girls with this name, so again, I don’t think it’s a real issue. It all comes down to personal choice. I do really like [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] though, it has a lovely feel to it.
At the end of the day though, as fellow posters have said, it’s not about what other people like, you need to be happy with the name you choose, so choose the one you love the best. Everyone else will quickly get used to it, and after awhile, you honestly can’t imagine the child having any other name. It will just fit them. This happened with my niece. We all hated the name ‘[name_f]Lilly[/name_f]’ when they were talking about it, but now she’s 11 and honestly, [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] is the perfect name for her…it doesn’t seem weird anymore, I couldn’t imagine her being called anything else.
I think the name you like best is the one that’s the most acceptable. Name your kid what you want, it’s amazing how names grow on you when there’s a baby attached to it. No one was fond of our sons name but now that he’s here we’ve heard no complaints. People just want to snuggle the baby. [name_u]Parker[/name_u] is a fine name
I personally perfer [name_u]Blake[/name_u] or [name_u]Payton[/name_u], however, this is your future baby, and you should name her what you love dispite your families negative comments. When the baby is born they will love a [name_u]Parker[/name_u] just as mush as they would love an [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Jessica[/name_f]. I see the appeal in [name_u]Parker[/name_u], and although I personally perfer other names, there is no reason why you shouldn’t love [name_u]Parker[/name_u]. It’s a sweet summery name, if you love it for a girl, go with it.
I think [name_u]Parker[/name_u] is fine for a girl, I always advise against discussing parenting decisions with anyone but your partner, family is crazy and will try to tell you what to do, I voted none of the above because I don’t love it with [name_f]Melanie[/name_f]… thought I should comment so you knew it wasn’t a vote against [name_u]Parker[/name_u]. [name_u]Piper[/name_u] is slightly more feminine if you are looking but [name_u]Parker[/name_u] is fine. Since you have lots of time I would make a list with your top ten girls names and rank how much you love them and just keep looking at it, if by the time you have a daughter you still love [name_u]Parker[/name_u] I would advise you to use it… our girls name pic three years ago is not the same as what we have picked for if the next one is a girl. We were sure it was going to be that one the nope we don’t think about that name and have come up with a new name that’s perfect and we still have the same back up name… and I feel like I should mention I know someone in my family hates that name but clearly if we agree on it and I feels right its got to stay on the list… its a short list! Recently I stumbled over another name and am considering adding it to the backup list I wouldn’t worry too much about what they say or anything, by the time you have a girl you can all just present no one ever knew you liked it.
