I really wanted to name my baby [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]. It was the only name my boyfriend and I could seem to agree on for boys names. I loved it and was perfectly content. Until I realized the last name would be [name_m]Parkes[/name_m]. [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] [name_m]Parkes[/name_m] is super close to Linkin [name_m]Park[/name_m]. I know his generation probably will have no idea about Linkin [name_m]Park[/name_m] but is it too much?? [name_f]Do[/name_f] I need to change it? I so do love the name I’ve chosen and can’t seem to find another I feel the same about. Suggestions that are like [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] and do you think I should change it??

Could you use [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] as the middle name?

Hm, honestly, it is very close to Linkin [name_m]Park[/name_m]… it’s what I’d immediately think of if I heard the name.
However, [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] is a very handsome choice and it flows nicely with the surname. I don’t think this has to be a dealbreaker. I doubt that Linkin [name_m]Park[/name_m] will be a big reference for your son’s generation and you’d hope that adults who do know of the band wouldn’t tease him about it!

I do think of Linkin [name_m]Park[/name_m] but wouldn’t assume he was named after it or anything.
My sister shares her name with the local mental ward and likes to tell people that’s where she was born and watch their faces. Perhaps in years to come he will find some humor in it.
I don’t think it’s too close. I’m young (or old?) enough to know Linkin [name_m]Park[/name_m], it was actually one of the biggest bands around when I was a kid, but I did not think of it when I saw [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] [name_m]Parks[/name_m].
It was the first thing that came to mind when I read [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] [name_m]Parkes[/name_m], but as with previous posters, I don’t think it’s a deal breaker. Given the singer’s recent death, if you are expecting your son soon, some people may assume that you named him after the singer, however, that’s easily corrected if you are asked about it. It’s hard to find a name you love, so if it’s the one, I’d go with it.
