My fiance and I recently found out that we are having a girl! Which is a big deal for us because between us we have 3 boys. We wanted a beautiful and unique name for our girl and came up with [name]October[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] [name]Rayne[/name]! Nn being [name]Tove[/name] or Tober. Which we both adore <3 But since he told his mother about the name and she wasnt fond of it he has been a little iffy on October. What are your opinions about the name?!
Personally, I love names with meaning, including names of months, seasons etc. I know some people don’t care for them, but I think they are great. I think [name]October[/name] is great. It has a lovely sound to it and it is definitely unique. [name]Just[/name] keep in mind that people will constantly ask your daughter when she is older if she was born in [name]October[/name]. It is the same with names like [name]June[/name], [name]April[/name] or [name]Autumn[/name]. It might get annoying for her after awhile. I am not a huge fan of [name]Leigh[/name] as a middle name, it kind of makes her first name sound like Octoberly. [name]Rayne[/name] is pretty though. I say go for it.
[name]Love[/name] it!! Wow, that is a really nice name. I like [name]October[/name] nn [name]Toby[/name] and hadn’t considered [name]Tove[/name] or Tober which are also really great.
[name]Rayne[/name]/[name]Raine[/name] is also a favorite of mine. I think if you love it, you should go with it. People will adjust and I think they’ll come around to feeling that it’s really beautiful.
[name]EDIT[/name]:
I wanted to add about the middle names, that you might consider changing [name]Rayne[/name] to [name]Rayna[/name] or [name]Raina[/name] if you like the way that flows better or want to make the combo less of a word combo. It’s good the way it is too, just something to consider.
If you end up not going with [name]October[/name] though ( ), you might consider:
[name]Auburn[/name]
[name]September[/name] nn [name]Ember[/name]
[name]Bronte[/name]
I couldn’t agree more with this. Using months or seasons for names is nms.
And I’d be careful with mn like [name]Leigh[/name] and [name]Rayne[/name]. For ex. If you nixed [name]Leigh[/name] for whatever reason your daughter would now be [name]October[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] = [name]October[/name] [name]Rain[/name]. While the imagery is fabulous I’m not sure that’s what I’d be looking for.
Maybe [name]Rayne[/name] [name]October[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] would work better for your husband. You could still call her [name]Tove[/name] or Tober or [name]Ray[/name]/[name]Rae[/name].
I think I’d prefer the spelling [name]Raine[/name] to [name]Rayne[/name] -> but if you read a number of my posts you’ll notice I visually don’t love y’s in the middle of names so I’m biased.
Good [name]Luck[/name]! and don’t let our opinions or that of you [name]MIL[/name] sway you from [name]October[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] if you love it. If you think it’s perfect then it simply is.
Hmmm, I think pp hit on it. When I look at it on the page, it’s just fine and I do love the nickname [name]Tove[/name] or Tober, very cute. When I say it aloud though, I get Octoberly [name]Rain[/name], like a rainy fall day. Not necessarily a dealbreaker depending on your own opinion, but very nouny/imagey if that makes sense.
I can argue both sides–you shouldnt let other peoples opinions ruin a name you love, but if your fiance is going to feel self conscious or iffy about it because of his mom…you don’t want that either.
[name]Raina[/name] [name]October[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]
[name]October[/name] [name]Raina[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]
[name]October[/name] [name]Rachel[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]
[name]October[/name] [name]Risa[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]
[name]October[/name] [name]Reagan[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]
I do like [name]Leigh[/name], it’s just not an easy name to work with because it can turn other names into adverbs. [name]Rayne[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] also reminded me of a name I heard once and loved…Raleene. [name]October[/name] Raleene?
There is always going to be someone who does not like the name you choose. If you love it then I say go for it. People who don’t love it will get over it.
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]October[/name]! Dislike the middles though. Would you be able to guide my into what sort of other names you might like??? Suggestions at the moment:
[name]October[/name] [name]Alice[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]October[/name] [name]Hermione[/name] [name]Rue[/name]
Thank you for your advise and suggestions so far it is appreciated! My heart was kind of set on [name]Leigh[/name] being one of the mn because it is a family mn for generations of women in my family
[name]Do[/name] you like the suggestion of [name]October[/name] [name]Raina[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]?
That also sounds nice and breaks up the nane a bit
Hmmm… I am warming to [name]Leigh[/name]. I like it but when you put it with [name]October[/name], it kinda sounds like Octoberly. Maybe you could do some thing like:
[name]October[/name] [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]
[name]October[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]
[name]October[/name] ??? [name]Leigh[/name]
Not keen on [name]Raine[/name]/ [name]Raina[/name] but I like [name]Leigh[/name] as a third middle
I almost named my daughter [name]January[/name]! When we mentioned it to family members we got some looks of horror & some words of encouragement.
I think those seldom used, long month names are very polarizing.
[name]October[/name] has roots in [name]Octavia[/name] which is probably just as intense of a name, but nickname [name]Toby[/name] is sweet & very wearable.
[name]October[/name] is also a character in the movie Down In The [name]Valley[/name] which I love.
[name]October[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] [name]Rain[/name] is lovely and doesn’t really blend too much when I said it aloud.
The only thing is month + rain makes me think [name]November[/name] [name]Rain[/name] by Guns & Roses. So I don’t like the suggestions of removing [name]Leigh[/name] or putting [name]Leigh[/name] in the 2nd middle spot.
I really like [name]October[/name], also like [name]January[/name] for a name. I do have to say though that I don’t care for [name]Rayne[/name] in the middle spot as I think [name]October[/name] [name]Rayne[/name] is too much word ya know. [name]How[/name] about [name]October[/name] [name]Reyna[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] ? Or [name]October[/name] [name]Ray[/name] Or [name]October[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name] ?
I would opt for [name]Octavia[/name] instead. [name]October[/name] is just too much of a word and the sound isn’t particularly pretty.
I second [name]October[/name] [name]Raina[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]. I love it, and it is distinctive and doesn’t run together like [name]October[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] [name]Rayne[/name], while still keeping the same feel and pretty much the same names as well. I love the nn suggestion of a pp of [name]Toby[/name]
