My name is [name_f]Susan[/name_f], and I am the mom of six children - [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] (14), [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] (12), [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] (9), [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m] (8), [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] (5), and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f] (2). All of our children’s names come from scripture, which is important to us, however we are undecided for our seventh child who is our fifth boy.
Normally, my husband and I have a conversation and seek out a name that we like that also honors what we believe. It is usually a short process and lasts only a day or two before we decide and share with others.
This time, we had our children (8+) each write a name they liked on our white board. This has been fun for our family, but now we are having trouble settling on a name!
Their criteria was:
1.) A name for a boy that hasn’t already been used in our household.
2.) A name from the Bible.
3.) A name that you can say easily.
Here are the names we are choosing from (including Mom & Dad’s choices):
[name_m]Judah[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m]
[name_m]Stephen[/name_m]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Adam[/name_m]
Any of these can be used as the middle name, also. Please let me know what you think sounds best with my kids’ names and which you’d choose. It’s a fun thing to do as a family, but it sure is trickier than just picking it yourself!
I love [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]- the only problem may be if you call [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u]! What about…
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Luke[/name_m] suggested by the pp is my favorite combo!
I personally wouldnt chose [name_m]Judah[/name_m] as a first, it sounds very religious and who knows if he will grow up and still be a [name_m]Christian[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is also a really nice combo, and I like [name_m]Adam[/name_m] [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] too!
I wouldnt use [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] as a first because its too much like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] imo
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] and [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]. If you want to use them both in one name, you’d probably have to go with [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] as [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] would run together. So, either [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] or [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] would be my top picks. Great names!
Sorry, but really? [name_m]Judah[/name_m] is in the top 300! [name_m]How[/name_m] is it more religious than [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Josiah[/name_m], [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], [name_m]Christian[/name_m]?! I get that you personally wouldn’t do it, but that is pretty insensitive naming advice for an expectant mama, who is clearly very much involved in her faith. She even said that her choices come directly from the Bible, so I don’t think she’s worried about her child “sounding” [name_m]Christian[/name_m], especially paired with her other children…anyone who read those names would automatically realize there is a Biblical theme going on. Sorry, but that really didn’t sit right with me!
OP:
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is my favorite with your other kids names. You really can’t go wrong though!
I like [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] best to go with your other children, the P is not repeated as a first initial. Not a necessary consideration but I think since you are already following that trend it sounds nicer to continue with it. [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Adam[/name_m] also sounds nice.
All the names in the list are very handsome and all sounds pretty good with [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].
I don’t like repeating initial when they are many siblings, so my option would be [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] (which I find really nice).
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] of [name_m]Phillip[/name_m] [name_m]Adam[/name_m].
But, my top 3 names (if you don’t mind repeating initial) is:
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_m]Phillip[/name_m]
[name_m]Stephen[/name_m]
I think [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is too similar to [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], and [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_m]Adam[/name_m] are also similar to me. I’m not a big fan of [name_m]Judah[/name_m] (but I really like [name_u]Jude[/name_u])
I think, at the end, it’s your choice (you and your husband) what really matters, even if your favorite name is not your children favorite. You could use your kids favorite name as middle name, for example.
