In need of opinion..

So, I’m a transitioning ftm, and I need some advice. I thought, what better place to come to, than a baby naming website. I’m looking for some suggestions for a new name: unofficial, but for personal use with close friends and relatives for now.

My birth name is double barrel - [name_f]Emma[/name_f]-[name_f]Louise[/name_f] - and I’d guess the most obvious synonym would be [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m]. I love [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m], but it’s top long, especially for my last name - [name_u]Ellis[/name_u].

Can anyone help? It doesn’t need to start with an ‘E’, but I’d love something that fits in, somewhat, with my last name, and that is approved by my parents.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]?

Ohhh that is so sweet to me that you want the name to have the approval of your parents. [name_f]Emma[/name_f]-[name_f]Louise[/name_f] sounds like the name of a baby born today! Did your parents have an unused boy name that you think could work? My parents never got to use their boy name, [name_m]Ian[/name_m], and I always thought that it was a great name. Or picking a double barrel name would be a nice way of connecting too.
I think [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] works, but other options that do not deviate far from your birth name are [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] or [name_m]Ewan[/name_m], or [name_u]Evan[/name_u].
It would be interesting to look at the top 500 baby names the year you were born for ideas. Although of course there are always outliers. I recently met a man in his 60s named [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] so you never know. But I would be surprised to meet a 35-year-old [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] (in the US anyway) or a 15-year-old [name_u]Gary[/name_u].

What about [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] or [name_u]Everett[/name_u]?

[name_f]Emma[/name_f]-[name_f]Louise[/name_f] has a bit of a classic feel so your parents might be more into traditional names.
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]/[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Jacob[/name_m]/[name_m]Jake[/name_m]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]

I second [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u]! There’s also [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Leon[/name_m], and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] that are similar-ish names while sounding good with your last name. Congratulations, btw! Sending you lots of good wishes as you go through this process.

Some quick ideas (sorry for repeats)

[name_m]Louis[/name_m]/[name_m]Louie[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Manuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_u]Jem[/name_u]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]

Hmmm [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] or [name_m]Emil[/name_m] could work but I think if you really like [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] it works out.

Thanks for all the replies! Thinking about [name_u]Evan[/name_u]. :))

My very first thought was [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. It has the E beginning, but shares a similar meaning with [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. You could shorten it to [name_u]Evan[/name_u] or [name_u]Ever[/name_u], which are both cool.
