I feel like I’ve got total baby name fatigue!

We have a daughter called M@rgot J0sephine, and I am officially out of inspiration for a second child.

Our last name is long and very consonant heavy (particularly in Gs, Ts, Fs and Ps - like I said it’s looong! So we’re looking for a fairly short first name, probably nothing over two syllables.

Our heritage is a mix of English, American, Italian and Jewish with Eastern and Central European roots, and we live in the UK (but our kids have three nationalities).

I’d say our taste runs to traditional names with a sense of history, but a slight international/quirky vibe. You can see all our current front-runners in my signature but none of them are doing it for me now, I just can’t see a real baby being born and naming her any of them!

I’d love some new suggestions - anything starting with an A, B, C, F or G would get extra brownie points with my OH thanks to the Jewish tradition of using initials to honour family members who aren’t around anymore.

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is so pretty, but we already have a little [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] in our close circle of friends, annoyingly (and I actually have two good adult friends called [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]!). I really like [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] although I worry [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is getting very popular where we live. I also think [name_f]Greta[/name_f] is adorable but it has the same roots as [name_f]Margot[/name_f] so that rules it out for us.

@luneth one of the names you’ve listed is actually my name! I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Adele[/name_f] but my husband has a much loathed aunt with the name - I also really like [name_f]Cara[/name_f] and [name_f]Livia[/name_f].

I can totally imagine a super-cute themed nursery with little doves on the walls and a dove mobile above the crib, or a dove-themed birthday party.

I’ve been throwing this name out a lot lately, mainly as a middle, but with sister [name_f]Margot[/name_f], and your like of names like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and [name_u]Vivien[/name_u], what about [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f]? @brittanyanitarose I’ve never considered [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f], interesting! [name_f]Florence[/name_f] isn’t too long for our taste at all but it’s too popular for us here in the UK. It’s so weird that it’s barely top 1000 in the US! I also really like [name_f]Etta[/name_f].

I see there’ve also been lots of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] suggestions - it’s a beauty but it’s just too popular for us, and because it was so huge in the UK when I was growing up it’s got a real 80s vibe to me.

@drasticgame I really really like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]! It’s definitely a name we’d consider as a middle if not a first. And I absolutely love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Bea[/name_f] but I know so many little Beatrices! It’s possible we’re going to have to stop worrying about popularity outside the top 50 seen as everyone else in [name_m]Britain[/name_m] also likes a vintage-inspired classic name!
