Indian-American boy name

I need help with a boy name! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is [name_f]Indian[/name_f] and I am American born [name_f]Asian[/name_f] with an American name. Our baby will have his 4-syllable last name, starting with D and of [name_f]Indian[/name_f] origin.

We want something that can be easily pronounced by Westerners and can at least have an American sounding nickname, so were initially thinking [name_m]Grant[/name_m] (I just like the name) + [name_f]Indian[/name_f] middle name, but recently started considering an [name_f]Indian[/name_f] first name with [name_m]Grant[/name_m] as a middle name. Our top 3 [name_f]Indian[/name_f] names are:

[name_m]Dev[/name_m] (but worried he’ll be called “dev” like [name_u]Devon[/name_u] instead of “dave” pronounciation)
Nikheil (can be shortened to [name_u]Nik[/name_u])
Harish (I just heard a friend say this name and while I’ve never heard it before, it sounded beautiful)

I worry about choosing a name he’ll always have to spell out or correct others on (either re: pronounciation or spelling) and want a name that can “work” and easily fit into both cultures…

Thanks for any opinions!

Harish is nice!!
I’ll also throw in the suggestion of [name_m]Ashwin[/name_m]

@Greyblue, that was my first thought as well!

From you’re list Harish would be the best option.

You could also consider Chander, [name_m]Kamal[/name_m] and [name_m]Ravi[/name_m] (this one is my favourite). I think these names would be fairly easy for an [name_f]English[/name_f] speaker to pronounce.

Also, I went to a school with a [name_f]Sundeep[/name_f] who always went by [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], so you could maybe find an [name_f]English[/name_f] nickname for an [name_f]Indian[/name_f] name you like.

I am unfamiliar with the language and pronunciations, so I don’t have many suggestions, but I am going to second Harish. I haven’t heard it before either but if I’m saying it correctly (hare-ish)? I think it sounds really nice.

names that are similar in style to [name_m]Grant[/name_m] that might work…

Dean
[name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_u]Nolan[/name_u]
[name_m]Gabe[/name_m]
[name_u]Miles[/name_u]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]
[name_m]Gage[/name_m]
[name_u]Asa[/name_u]

I like the suggestion of [name_m]Ashwin[/name_m]. It’s [name_f]Indian[/name_f] but familiar enough to Western listeners, plus it offers the cool nickname [name_u]Ash[/name_u]. I didn’t realize [name_m]Dev[/name_m] was pronounced like [name_m]Dave[/name_m]. I think Americans would pronounce it as D-ehv.
