Pronunciation is important to me. People gave me a hard time growing up and I want to save my son the hassle. If they still ruin it, they are just not trying hard enough. =) Also my older daughter’s name is [name]Riya[/name]. Which boy name do you like?
[name]Ravi[/name] (Rah-vee)
Saavin (Sah-vin) one of my favs, but i hope people can say it
[name]Rahil[/name] (Rah-hill)
Shrey (Shray)
[name]Shaan/name
I like [name]Ravi[/name] and [name]Rahil[/name] very much! Shrey is a little too close to Shrek for me. [name]Shaan[/name] could be pronounced as “[name]Shawn[/name]” or “[name]Shan[/name]”; either is nice, but it’s not totally clear from the pronunciation.
I also really like the [name]Indian[/name] name [name]Rishi[/name], another name that would fit with [name]Riya[/name].
I think that [name]Ravi[/name] has the most intuitive pronunciation, so if you want something that people won’t say incorrectly, I’d go with [name]Ravi[/name].
I think that [name]Ravi[/name] and [name]Riya[/name] are a little too close. I love [name]Rahil[/name] and Saavin. I don’t think folks will have trouble pronouncing Saavin.
I vote for [name]Ravi[/name] or Shrey. I think the double a’s in Saavin and [name]Shaan[/name] might confuse people since [name]Aaron[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name] are such common names, and the double a’s they contain are pronounced differently.
I think as long as you avoid letter combos that aren’t common in English, you’ll probably only have to correct once and then people will get it. For example, I have a friend at work whose name is Aekta. People are very intimidated by her name and a lot of people don’t even attempt to say it until after they’ve heard her pronounce it. [name]Even[/name] people who’ve known her for a long time get their tongues tripped up by the unexpected sounds and call her Aet-ka instead of Aek-ta.
I think there are probably enough short, simple [name]Indian[/name] guy names to pick from that you should be able to find one that most people will be able to say properly.
From your list, I think [name]Ravi[/name] would be the name that would have the least pronunciation issues. I do like Saavin the best though. Here are some more suggestions.
