[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,
We are team green due in [name_f]October[/name_f]. I posted in the boys forum too. We are [name_f]Indian[/name_f] British American and my family had a long history/connection with Japan. Our current first name choices for a girl are:
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]
With a strong leaning towards the first three right now.
We are hoping to find a sanskrit middle name that honours my partner’s [name_f]Indian[/name_f] heritage. I would be extra happy if it is also pronounceable or even recognized in Japanese, but this isn’t a requirement.
Our absolutely favorite [name_f]Indian[/name_f] name is [name_f]Veda[/name_f], but not sure it goes with our first name choices at all. Current other favorites are [name_f]Amara[/name_f] (i like this because it seems to have been used by many many cultures but still not that common), [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] (I’ve liked this one for a long time as it means night rain in Japanese but it means guilless in Sanskrit, so going off it) and Emilin (of sky and [name_f]Earth[/name_f]). And possibly Tarabai (kick ass [name_f]Indian[/name_f] warrior [name_f]Queen[/name_f]) or [name_f]Dhara[/name_f] (earth).
What are your thoughts on combinations of any of these with our first name choices? Other middle name suggestions with those first names?
Thank you!
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Veda[/name_f] flows really well, in my opinion, so if [name_f]Veda[/name_f] is your favorite middle, I think [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] may be a good way to go for that one.[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Amara[/name_f] is lovely and I think it has a great flow. [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Dhara[/name_f] and [name_f]Amara[/name_f] both work well too. I really love [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u], too. [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Amara[/name_f] would be stunning, imo.
So, I think my favorites would be [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Veda[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Amara[/name_f] and, [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Dhara[/name_f].
I think [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Amara[/name_f] is a great combo!
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Veda[/name_f] is amazing! [name_u]Love[/name_u] love love it.
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] Tarabai would be a fabulous, kick-ass combo too, but perhaps not feminine enough for you?
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Veda[/name_f] is amazing, and [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Amara[/name_f] or [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] are great options too.
My favorite combos are [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Dhara[/name_f], and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Veda[/name_f].
I was looking for you to post this! Have to agree with what everyone has said already, I am loving [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. I also adore [name_f]Amaya[/name_f].
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Amaya[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Amaya[/name_f]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_f]Veda[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Veda[/name_f]
Those four, for sure.
Some others I dug up that are similar:
[name_f]Anjali[/name_f] [Sanskrit for Gift.]
[name_f]Amita[/name_f] [Sanskrit for infinite.]
[name_f]Vela[/name_f] [Sanskrit for shore, coast, but also Latin for sail and is a constellation in the southern sky.]
Sounds like everyone loves [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Veda[/name_f]! Good to know! I am liking [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Amara[/name_f] more and more too. We are also considering [name_f]Veda[/name_f] as the first name choice now too. Maybe with something totally out there for a middle name like Nightingale…
@awkwarddeafchick I love [name_f]Amita[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Anjali[/name_f] is really cool with [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] . Nice finds! Partner says no to all because he knows an [name_f]Anjali[/name_f] and prefers [name_f]Veda[/name_f] to [name_f]Vela[/name_f]. Gave me no reason for [name_f]Amita[/name_f] …he is picky!
I think we have enough to work with to go into the birth with a couple pairs of names for either gender and see what he/she looks like when here!
Thanks everyone! Xx
I love love love both [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] and [name_f]Amara[/name_f]. Totally usable as first names in English speaking countries.
