What do you think of [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] as a first name for a girl? I think it’s not used very often and the nickname [name_f]Indy[/name_f] is adorable, but do you consider it a “real” name? Also, is the [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] association too strong?
If [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] wasn’t a state then I’d probably really love this name. I love the nn [name_f]Indy[/name_f] and I love most -ana names. I live pretty close to [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] though, and in my opinion it’s one of the dullest states in the US (personal experience!) so while it’s probably usable, I think there would be plenty of raised eyebrows [name_m]IRL[/name_m].
I like [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] and [name_f]Indy[/name_f]/[name_f]Indie[/name_f] is an awesome nickname. (it’s the main reason why I have [name_u]Linden[/name_u] on my list—for [name_f]Indie[/name_f]!) It’s a bold choice and she would probably be the only [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] in her class.
I consider it as real as any other place name.
[name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] is my first thought/association, but I personally don’t see that as a bad thing. I love the name [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]/[name_m]Casper[/name_m] and a lot of people still associate the name with the friendly ghost, haha.
I’ve only met one [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] (a boy, but I can easily see [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] on a girl) and he was a total sweetheart so that would be my next association.
All in all, I think it’s quite sweet.
I know a little girl called [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] and everyone calls her [name_f]Indy[/name_f]. The name is not really my style, but she is an adorable and spirited baby, so I have good associations with the name.
