Indigo. What do you predict?

I read the blog about the “Unusual Girls’ Names Destined for Stardom” and I agreed with the majority of it, but I wasn’t aware that [name]Indigo[/name] was becoming so popular. Is [name]Indigo[/name] really that trendy or about to become that trendy? I wasn’t aware that a lot of people even considered it a name. What do you predict?

Does anyone know anybody named [name]Indigo[/name]?

I don’t know anyone named [name]Indigo[/name] but I prefer it for a boy. I hope it doesn’t become to popular for girls, this is one color name I’d love to have “go to the boys”.
(There was a post on here yesterday? asking about [name]Indigo[/name] for a boy).

I like the name for both genders but prefer it on a girl. I think it’s a very pretty and interesting name whether it’s on a boy or a girl.

I do really like [name]Indigo[/name] for a boy, but would probably use it as a middle name. It feels distinctly masculine to me, though I couldn’t tell you why. Maybe because [name]Indigo[/name] is such a rich blue, and to me blues are masculine? On the other hand I like [name]India[/name] for a girl. I have no idea why I see these differently, except that I just automatically assigned them genders in my head. I like the nickname [name]Indie[/name] for both genders though. Go figure.

I don’t know anyone called [name]Indigo[/name] except in books (I guess that doesn’t really count) but I [name]LOVE[/name] it and it is on my list for defo.

My neice’s name is [name]Indigo[/name]. She’s 2. She goes by [name]Indie[/name] a lot.

Does anyone see it becoming really popular in the near future???

There were 62 girls named [name]Indigo[/name] born in the U.S. last year and it’s never been in the top 1000. It does get discussed quite a lot on these boards, but the taste of these boards definitely isn’t reflective of naming trends in general. There a lot of names that are very popular here that are rarely used in “real life” - [name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] come to mind. I could see it rising in popularity and breaking into the top 1000, but I definitely don’t see [name]Indigo[/name] becoming widely used enough to be considered trendy.

This name as the appeal of [name]Ivy[/name] for me. [name]Pleasant[/name] sounding & not too out there on a girl. I think more daring parents would use it on a boy…but could see it becoming somewhat popular on a girl. Nowhere near [name]Violet[/name] or [name]Scarlet[/name] but more like [name]Ivy[/name] or [name]India[/name].

I know one [name]Indigo[/name], a boy.

I [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Indigo[/name], but I don’t think it’s going to go much beyond the name nerd community. Can you imagine a Dr. [name]Indigo[/name] So-and-so?

I feel the same way, that’s why I was so surprised to see [name]Indigo[/name] on a list of names “risisng to stardom”.

agreed! [name]Indigo[/name]…

do you guys like the name isla? because i think its really pretty

Haha, I used [name]Indigo[/name] as my second born’s “name” while still in the womb when people asked me what name we were choosing, nickname “Diggy”. It seemed like a consistent choice considering my naming style but oops! When our baby arrived the REAL name was announced. I like it better for a boy.

love it. one of my favourite colour name:)
i think it’s very nice, cute name for both genders.

This is what my mom was going to name me in the 70s. She named me another weird color name. I guess I’d prefer [name]Indigo[/name] for nn [name]Indie[/name] over my name, but I’d prefer to have been named [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Sydney[/name] ( other choices.
