Is it ee-nez or ih-nez or uh-nez? And what do you think of it?
“Eye-nez” is how someone I know pronounces it.
Ih-nez is how I’ve heard it pronounced.
This is my daughters middle name.
We pronounce it Ih-Nez… But lots of people say it as Eye-Nez… Speaking from exerence, I think whichever way you chose to pronounce it you’ll be correcting people!
We just named our daughter Inés. If you spell it with an -s at the end, I’d use the Spanish pronunciation (ee-ness). With a -z at the end, I’ve heard eye-nez and ih-nez.
Obviously, I love it.
I’ve recently started to really like this name I’ve always only heard Ih-nez.
ee-NESS is what I have heard in Spanish and French. I’ve never came across it in [name]England[/name], so I don’t know if there is a standard English pronunciation.
I find it pretty. I also like [name]Inessa[/name]/[name]Inesa[/name].
Since it’s a Spanish and French name, I pronounce it “ee-NESS”. I think [name]Ines[/name] is very pretty.
In French, “in-ness” or “ee-ness.” It’s a really nice name
I’ve only ever heard eye-NEZ, and I like that better than any of the other pronunciations I’m seeing haha. But the other ones are fine! When people say “ih”, is that like the i in “tick”?
Thanks everyone! @heytherepigeon, yeah like the i in “tick”. I’ve only ever heard it ih-nez but that’s coming from a 16 year old born and raised in the Midwest with very little exposure to other cultures. I like the ih-nez pronunciation the best but I think no matter what, I’d be correcting people.
