Ingrid

What do you all think of this one? Is this considered a traditional name that would fit in with an [name]Elizabeth[/name] and other super traditional names? For combos, I like:

[name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Mary[/name]

This may not be much help but I think all your combinations work beautifully and it really just gets down to your personal style.

In many places [name]Ingrid[/name] is absolutely considered a traditional name, for example it is a commonly used name in the Danish royal family, as are [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name], so all the combinations you list have a very scandinavian royal feel (and therefore “classic”) feel to me.

I actually like them in the order you have listed them.

I love the name [name]Ingrid[/name], although I do know it is a name that people tend to either love or hate.

Of your combinations, my favorites are [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Mary[/name]. [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name] josephine are just a little too strong for me…[name]Ingrid[/name] is a strong name (many call it harsh), and I think it sounds best with a softer middle.

I love [name]Ingrid[/name]! Dh would never go for it though. Of your combos I like [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Mary[/name]. I think it is very traditional but also very ethnic so I don’t think it is quite in the same category as [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Mary[/name] etc.

Right…It isn’t the “perfect” fit. I just love the style and strength of it. I might be the only one in the world, but I also think it has a cuteness factor for a little girl. I think the vowel at the beginning of [name]Ingrid[/name] is enough to keep it from being too harsh.

I love [name]Ingrid[/name]. None of your middles have the same appeal to me, but neither do I dislike them. I like [name]Josephine[/name] best and [name]Margaret[/name] least. I would choose the mn based on the overall flow/rhythm with your surname or for a personal reason eg honouring a friend, family member, place etc.

On the question of being traditional I guess it depends on context. In Australia I wouldn’t call it traditional but it isn’t crazy-unusual either. In terms of fitting with [name]Elizabeth[/name] or other names I would say who cares? [name]How[/name] many times do you meet someone and ask what their siblings names are? You are more likely to just connect with their name (if it is lovely, like [name]Ingrid[/name]) or not.

And lastly, if you like [name]Ingrid[/name], have you considered [name]Astrid[/name]?
