[name]One[/name] of my favorite combos is [name]Grace[/name] [name]Helena[/name], but with my last name starting with B I am unsure about initials GHB. What do you think? [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] [name]Aileen[/name] are two related favorites I like and I am OK with GEB and [name]GAB[/name].
What is GHB? Seeing as I don’t even know what that stands for, it’s a lot better than [name]GAB[/name]. As for the names, I love all three combos, but [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elena[/name] especially.
I think the initials GHB is just fine! Many times the last initial is placed in the middle of a Monogram, i.e. GBH
I don’t like the [name]GAB[/name] initials it might cause some teasing during the teen years.
@encore - GHB is a drug that is controversial partly because it’s often used as a “date rape drug.”
So, poster, I see where you are coming from. A shame because [name]Grace[/name] [name]Helena[/name] is so, so gorgeous! Hm. I’m trying to figure out how bad this is, in light of the fact that not everyone is aware of GHB. Also, even though I often use my full initials when initialing papers and forms, many people do a simple first-last (GB - Great [name]Britain[/name]!) and leave out the middle initial. If you’re worried about a monogram, a classic monogram would move the last to the middle, and you’d end up with GBH, also fine. Thus, I think you can get away with it.
[name]Grace[/name] [name]Elena[/name] - I’m saying this as [[name]ELLEN[/name]-a] and [name]Helena[/name] as [[name]HELEN[/name]-a] - is a pretty compromise. You could even stretch to [name]Grace[/name] [name]Lenora[/name]…
[name]Lemon[/name]
Thanks lemon! I agree it’s not the worst - and as a girl she may marry into another initial (if she chooses to change - I didn’t, and married another B surname anyway! : D), so I think it’s doable. But I am leaning to go with [name]Elena[/name] or [name]Aileen[/name]. [name]Lenora[/name] is pretty but [name]Elena[/name] or [name]Aileen[/name] have more meaning to me.
@encore what is the slang with [name]GAB[/name]? just gabby, like talkative? I don’t see that as a problem. But is there something else?
I have a vague awareness of what GHB is – some kind of chemical or something right? I think it’s totally fine. I’ve never been one to worry too much about initials unless they spell something really bad like [name]Amy[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Spencer[/name], if you catch my drift. GHB and [name]GAB[/name] are all fine. Personally, there was a time in elementary school when my friends and I all figured out what our initials spelled and my friends all spelled something, like [name]CAB[/name], [name]CAT[/name], DAB, etc., and mine didn’t and I was very disappointed and sad. That’s not to say your little one will ever have that experience; I’m just saying there’s another side to the initials argument.
As for the names [name]Grace[/name] [name]Helena[/name] is beautiful. Although I like the names [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Helena[/name] the best out of all the names you listed, for some reason I feel like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elena[/name] is a little smoother to say … but I almost don’t want to share that because [name]Grace[/name] [name]Helena[/name] is really beautiful.
I had absolutely no idea what the problem with GHB could possible be. Google tells me that there’s a club drug called GHB so I suppose that’s the issue, but I never would have made the connection on my own. I’m actually sort of struggling with giving you an answer, because I don’t consider myself to be completely innocent or oblivious when it coming to knowing about drugs, but I’m not really knowledgeable either. I’m just not sure how well-known of a reference it is. I’m inclined to say that it would probably be okay, but I’m just not sure.
Ha ha – wow, in the time it took me to write my response, a lot happened! What can I say, I’m a very slow typer.
For the record, I’m saying [name]Helena[/name] “hel-AY-na” and [name]Elena[/name] “e-[name]LAY[/name]-na” if that helps at all. [name]Both[/name] are gorgeous but [name]Helena[/name] really gets me somehow and I just can’t get over the beauty of it.
My own initials are JAB and I’ve only ever felt positively toward it even though it could be seen as a negative word. But GHB is really pretty negative. But it’s interesting to see how little recognized it is - I think I watch too much law and order!
For a long time in my mind I’ve had my top two girl names as [name]Lily[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] [name]Helena[/name] with [name]Grace[/name] [name]Elena[/name] as a GHB avoiding compromise…I wonder if [name]Lily[/name] [name]Helena[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] are also nice?
What about [name]Lily[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Helena[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]? Those combos really jump out at me. I do love [name]Lily[/name] [name]Helena[/name], but [name]Grace[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] seems a little harder to say. But I’m pretty lazy, so I like names that roll off the tongue very easily.
@catheyc- in my head they’re he[name]LAYna[/name] and e[name]LAYna[/name] too. But I like the other prn’s too.
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Helena[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] are very nice. But [name]Lily[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is a little too popular for my taste, and [name]Helena[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] maybe a little too quirky. [name]Both[/name] lovely, just don’t fit my style - and then as sisters there’d be too much contrast. I also have a short surname so [name]Lily[/name] [name]Grace[/name] with it is kind of abrupt, and the 3-3 of [name]Helena[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] isn’t for me. And then most importantly, [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] are my husband’s picks and [name]Helena[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] are mine (though we both like each others). So I want to keep 1 from each of us.
Maybe [name]Helena[/name] [name]Grace[/name] could work though! [name]Grace[/name] is just so expected in the middle but it would have meaning for us. [name]Beatrix[/name] (for [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lily[/name]) with our last name might be too much sound overlap, that’s the main reason I imagine her in the middle.
Hmm. Anyway I’ve got time to figure this out : D.
