I am overdue with a little girl. First name will start with a V, first middle name with an A. The only second middle name that “flows” well is [name]Juliet[/name], so her three names would spell VAJ.
Would it be a problem? Family name starts with a T, so the “full” initials would be VAJT.
I live in [name]France[/name] where the “V-word” is the same as in English, but is never abbreviated.
Oh, dear. Is there another first middle you can settle on?

[name]Just[/name] seeing the title of this thread, I thought, NO! I don’t know how many people will pick up on it if the last name begins with a T, but since you pointed it out, I would recommend against it. I would switch up one of the middle names, or just drop one so she only has three initials.
Hmm VAJ is not ideal! At least it’s broken up by the T. [name]Do[/name] you plan on including the second middle name on all her documentation? You could exclude it from her school enrollment? If you do want to include both middle names I would consider replacing one of them. You could potentially sacrifice [name]Juliet[/name] if you have only chosen it for the flow?
I do think it’s an embarrassing acronym and would try and avoid it. But it’s not disastrous!
I’d consider replacing [name]Juliet[/name]. Maybe something with the same rhythm of [name]Juliet[/name]? Like, [name]Anneliese[/name]? [name]Seraphine[/name]? [name]Marguerite[/name]?

There’d have to be some major, compelling reason for me to use V.A.J. in that order. And a reason they had to be those names. [name]Just[/name] “flow”? No. There’s plenty of other names that have the rhythm of [name]Juliet[/name]. It would have to be some sort of incredibly family-related reason it had to be [name]Juliet[/name], and why if [name]Juliet[/name] was so important, it couldn’t be V.J.A. or something instead.
No way…even in [name]France[/name] it is still VAJ…I implore you to find a different name
I really really wouldn’t want those initials to be mine during my formative years. Maybe no 2nd middle? Or change the first? If [name]Juliet[/name] is just for flow consider [name]Harriet[/name], Merit?
I don’t think it is that bad. Most people, if they are even looking at her full name, middle names included, will see VAJT. Most people won’t even know what the middle names are. I would think the worst teasing potential for a name would take place during middle school and highschool, and in most cases other students won’t know what her middle names are. I say go for it if you are dead set on the names. Like others suggested, maybe reverse the two middles.
I have two middle names and I NEVER use all four initials. It’s always just my fn/ln. Four is almost like writing out a word, and it’s awkward for monogramming and the like. So if VT and VAJT don’t bother you and you are really only worried about VAJ I think you’re in the clear. (If it ever does become a problem just arm her with some great sassy come-backs that will put people in their place.)

I am looking for English names that are not spelt the same way in French (for instance, I can’t have my great-grandmother’s name [name]Beatrice[/name], which I liked).

I think it’s fine honestly. My initials spell something even worse, and I got over it. It has never been a problem to me - you just have to own it! People are never going to have fun teasing you if you just go along with them. Plus I can’t see why anyone would ever just use those three initials without your last name. Honestly when I see the initials VAJT I think of fajitas before I think of the other thing!
I say if you love it, and it doesn’t bother you, then use it! If it does bother you that much why not eliminate [name]Juliet[/name]? Or find a different middle name. But you said yourself, it’s never abbreviated that way in [name]France[/name], so I can’t see it really being a problem.

The word in French is Vagine, and the ‘g’ is a French “jha,” not hard like the English J. And the structure is never, ever nicknamed 'Vag/ Vaj" in [name]France[/name]-- the latter wouldn’t even make sense.
I think it would only be a potential problem for English speakers who happen to see all four of the child’s prenom initials simultaneously. Which will be, like, nobody.
On the other hand-- [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] are all fine names, though [name]Margaret[/name] alone would really be pronounced differently. I see the average French person pronouncing [name]Margaret[/name] in the Dutch fashion-- Mahr-gahr-ette- as opposed to [name]Marguerite[/name]. I think [name]Cecily[/name] and [name]Cecilie[/name] will be homonymous in [name]France[/name], as will [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Mathilde[/name].
My husband has unfortunate initials, so much so, that even his company will not add his middle initial to the website/letterhead, etc. We still give his mom a hard time, like, WHAT were you thinking?! I would definitely make adjustments.

At first I thought no way, but then seeing the surname is T it would make it VAJT which isn’t quite as bad, but then if you dropped the second middle on certain forms etc she’d be VAT which is still not the greatest.
I’d suggest either going for V___ [name]Juliet[/name] A____ if that would flow, or if you’re just using [name]Juliet[/name] because it flows, maybe pick another name with the same three syllable flow - [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Lillian[/name] etc.
Hello essjay! I cannot switch the middle names as our older children have got a French name / Berber name / English name combo.
It is very difficult to find a traditional English name that is not spelt the same in French (our son is [name]William[/name] and our daughter is [name]Eleanor[/name]).
