Starting to narrow down my list, and have come up with the following. any opinions on these names or suggestions are appreciated! It helps to hear some input since i’m not really discussing with family/friends… sometimes there are factors i haven’t considered and find these boards helpful! I would like a name that is not super common or trendy, not too weird, something that will age well, etc. etc.
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name] (or [name]Beatrix[/name])
[name]Freya[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Pippa[/name] (hesitant to even list this, i have a soft spot for this name but i don’t think she’d ever get away from the pippa middleton association, plus i’m not sure how well it ages…)
Big sister is [name]Evangeline[/name], nn [name]Evie[/name].
[name]Fiona[/name] – I really like this one. It’s soft and pretty
[name]Clara[/name] – I think it’s nice, but a bit boring next to the other names
[name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name] – I prefer the spunky [name]Beatrix[/name] and nn [name]Trixie[/name], but I think they’re both beautiful
[name]Freya[/name] – [name]LOVE[/name]! I love the mythological connection and it has such a gorgeous sound
[name]Hazel[/name] – so old fashioned to me. I have an awful cousin with this name too, so it’s bad personally to me
[name]Alice[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this classic! So pretty
[name]Pippa[/name] – I just don’t like this. It’s so cute for a nickname
From your list, I prefer [name]Fiona[/name] (especially with big sister [name]Evangeline[/name]!) I like all of the names, except [name]Freya[/name]. I’ve never been a fan. And I like [name]Pippa[/name], but much prefer it as a nickname for [name]Philippa[/name].
I like them in this order:
[name]Beatrice[/name] - love this
[name]Alice[/name] - a classic
[name]Clara[/name] - one of my new favourites
[name]Freya[/name] - pretty
[name]Hazel[/name] - all right - doesn’t go that well with [name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name] - a bit dull and too mature for a child
[name]Pippa[/name] - can’t get away from the associations now!
[name]Fiona[/name] - Always loved this name. Classic but not over-used, and it flows well with a lot of good middle names. Fionnula ([name]Finn[/name]-oo-la) is another alternative if [name]Fiona[/name] feels too common for you.
[name]Clara[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name]. Nice alternative to [name]Claire[/name].
[name]Beatrice[/name] (or [name]Beatrix[/name]) - NMS. Not a fan of this one. Too old-ladyish
[name]Freya[/name] - NMS.
[name]Hazel[/name] - Very pretty, but gaining in popularity, if that matters. [name]Fiona[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] or [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Clara[/name] sound wonderful.
[name]Alice[/name] - Ok. very popular. Not a favorite, personally.
[name]Pippa[/name] - I knew a girl by this name way back in college before [name]Pippa[/name] Middleton was on the social map, so I’ve never really associated it with her. However, I think some people may associate it with it’s more popular bearer, but that’s not a make-it-or-break-it deal in my book. It’s a positive association, if any at all. You could also use a formal name and [name]Pippa[/name] is the nn - [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Philippa[/name], [name]Patricia[/name], etc.
Big sister is [name]Evangeline[/name], nn [name]Evie[/name]. - Pretty!!
[name]Fiona[/name] - I love this. To me, it’s not too common, yet it is familiar. I don’t care about the Shrek assocation.
[name]Clara[/name] - I really like this name. I do feel it’s going to get quite a bit more popular.
[name]Beatrice[/name] (or [name]Beatrix[/name]) - I see this on the name boards all the time, but not anywhere near “too common” at the moment. I slightly prefer the one with the x.
[name]Freya[/name] - an interesting name not seen often in the US - , yet, anyway.
[name]Hazel[/name] - not a favorite of mine, but I see the appeal, and I have a feeling it will get more popular.
[name]Alice[/name] - it’s lovely- and getting more popular (but not super-common right now) if that worries you.
[name]Pippa[/name] - I think it’s really cute but I’d use [name]Philippa[/name] as the formal name in case she finds [name]Pippa[/name] too juvenile. I have seen [name]Penelope[/name] with the nn [name]Pippa[/name] mentioned as well. Personally I wouldn’t worry about the [name]Pippa[/name] Middleton assocation.
Aside from [name]Pippa[/name], I think all of the names “age well.”
I agree with you that I’d lose [name]Pippa[/name] from the list, I think it’s adorable but can only imagine it rapidly rising in popularity, becoming trendy and then going out as fashion as quickly as it came in. Having said that [name]Evangeline[/name] & [name]Pippa[/name] would be beautiful!
I don’t like [name]Fiona[/name], it’s dated here in the UK and I just think of Shrek.
I love [name]Clara[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] is nice enough. I do like [name]Freya[/name] but it’s so popular here in the UK, but I do realise that it isn’t even top 1000 in the US so it is a lovely choice but doesn’t feel as classic as some of the others and I struggle to imagine a middle aged lady named [name]Freya[/name].
[name]Evangeline[/name] & [name]Hazel[/name] or [name]Evangeline[/name] & [name]Clara[/name] would get my vote, the former probably being my favourite sibset.
[name]Fiona[/name] - I think this is a pretty, feminine name that meets your factors of not super trendy but not very weird, and will age well.
[name]Clara[/name] - Pretty much the same as above. [name]Clara[/name] is a little plainer than [name]Fiona[/name], which makes it a little less of a pair with [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]IMO[/name].
[name]Pippa[/name]- I am probably the only one to rate this so high, but I think this would be a great option… IF you went with [name]Philippa[/name], nn [name]Pippa[/name]. [name]Philippa[/name] goes well with [name]Evangeline[/name], and [name]Pippa[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] as nicknames are adorable. The [name]Philippa[/name] option also would give her a chance to disassociate from [name]Pippa[/name] Middleton. I know her full name is also [name]Philippa[/name], but she doesn’t really go by it.
[name]Hazel[/name] - I love the name [name]Hazel[/name], I think it’s quirky and high energy, but, to me, it doesn’t go at all with [name]Evangeline[/name].
[name]Alice[/name] - I see this one shooting up in popularity and, like [name]Hazel[/name], I just don’t think it goes well with [name]Evangeline[/name]. [name]One[/name] is very long and feminine and the other is short and plainer.
[name]Freya[/name] - Same issue as [name]Alice[/name], but more so.
[name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name] - This is just one of my automatic dislike names. I don’t get it. But academically, it’s a fine choice and feels similar to [name]Evangeline[/name].
I really like your names! [name]Fiona[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name] are my faves from your list.
[name]How[/name] about?
[name]Gwendolyn[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
MY favorite is [name]Hazel[/name]. You could still call her [name]Pippa[/name] as a nickname, if not a legal name. Nicknames can be anything, really. No law against that! Good luck and congrats!
[name]Fiona[/name]–I have some love for this name. [name]Will[/name] age well. (If I had a [name]Fiona[/name], I would call her [name]Fifi[/name] sometimes, but just as a special mom/daughter nn).
[name]Clara[/name]–Sorry, this name is becoming too common for me between [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Claire[/name], I’m over it. Also, I don’t think it goes with [name]Evangeline[/name] as well as your choices.
[name]Beatrice[/name] (or [name]Beatrix[/name])–[name]Beatrix[/name] is great. [name]Love[/name] [name]Bea[/name] or [name]Trixi[/name]!
[name]Freya[/name]-[name]Love[/name]!
[name]Hazel[/name]-eh, nms.
[name]Alice[/name]–good name!
[name]Pippa[/name]- Needs a formal name, [name]Philippa[/name] or [name]Penelope[/name]. [name]Pippa[/name] is cute! I’m with you on the Middleton association, I have [name]Philippa[/name] on my new list, and can’t decide how I feel.
Names that go best with [name]Evangeline[/name], IMHO,
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Freya[/name]
[name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]/[name]Philippa[/name]
