Inspired by Mary

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is a family name, and I would love to use some variant of it to honour the many women in my family named [name_f]Mary[/name_f], especially my mum. However, I don’t want to use it outright, as there’s just too many [name_f]Mary[/name_f]'s in my family already. [name_u]Marion[/name_u] is also out, due to living near a place called [name_u]Marion[/name_u]. Similar sounding names such as [name_f]Maren[/name_f] are also out.

I’m considering [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], although I don’t know if I’m brave enough to use it. I’m also strongly considering [name_f]Mia[/name_f], but I don’t know if that’s too far from the original (my family is not creative in the slightest).

[name_f]Maria[/name_f], [name_f]Marianne[/name_f], [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] (shortened to Mirry)?

[name_u]Marley[/name_u]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Bella[/name_f] (But [name_f]Bella[/name_f] could be the name she goes by)
[name_f]Mara[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariana[/name_f]
[name_f]Amaya[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Missy[/name_f]
[name_f]Mireille[/name_f] (pronounced Mer- ray)
Maitreya (pronounced Ma-traya)
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Marla[/name_f]

[name_u]Monroe[/name_u]

Some of my suggestions are a bit more “out there”.

[name_f]Marit[/name_f]
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f] / [name_f]Amarilis[/name_f]
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f]
[name_f]Maryam[/name_f] / [name_f]Mariam[/name_f] / Mariami
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]
Mariamne
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] / [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]
[name_f]Marisela[/name_f] / [name_f]Maricela[/name_f]

[name_f]Marielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Marise[/name_f] / [name_f]Marisa[/name_f]

I do think [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is a bit of a stretch for the average person but that it does work.

Shamelessly bumping…

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_f]Maureen[/name_f]
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f]

[name_f]Maryah/name_f,!, Marydith(meridith with variation in spelling),[name_f]Maryssa/name_f

What about using it as a middle name? That way your options are wide open while still honoring the family name.

It doesn’t get any better than the beautiful [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I would use it regardless of family use. Suggestions:

[name_f]Mira[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Maryann[/name_f]
[name_f]Marisa[/name_f]

By far my favourite [name_f]Mary[/name_f] variant is the lovely [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], nn [name_f]Mim[/name_f], which I don’t think has been mentioned yet.

What about [name_f]Marin/name_f or [name_f]Marielle[/name_f]?
