Inspiring Heroic men of Valor

I thought we had a mutual plan with at least 3 solid names selected for 3 sons. I guess my zest for names may have gotten ahead of my communication skills because when I replayed the names by my husband he wasn’t convinced or even excited about several of “our” names that were really my names…so I feel a little discouraged…but I am hoping to gain some new ideas from berries who are equally as excited about names…so here are some of our requirements:

But first the name we have always agreed on for our first son:[name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] (I have had [name_m]Peter[/name_m] picked literally since I was 2, [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m] is his fave, [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] honors all the men I love the most including dh, my dad, and brother)

Here are the names I thought we loved equally:first names [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], Zephan (not ever [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m]), then some middles I love: [name_u]Jamison[/name_u] (honors dh), and [name_m]Garrison[/name_m] (for my beloved Uncle), [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] (dh. Kind of likes this one).

Back to requirements:
Meaning is highly rated. We are Christians so names that reflect our values are very important. We will likely love a name almost as much for the meaning as the sound.

We love adventuresome names but not Western names like [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]. By adventuresome I mean that I would be willing to use a word like Courage, [name_m]Valor[/name_m], or [name_f]Honor[/name_f] for a mn. We want to raise sons that are willing fight for people less fortunate and who are not afraid of challenges and we want their names to be strong and reflect this nature. Dh is not quite sure about word names, this is a little out of his comfort zone. I think dh might go for a name like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] after C.S. [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and a missionary friend of my family though.

Dh seems to like Greek, Hebrew, and English names for boys example: [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m].

No unisex names. even a name like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] that rides the fence is out.

Dh does not go for nature names for boys or girls, don’t know why but he always crosses those off. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not his favorite.

Names I love but cannot talk him into…[name_m]Edmond[/name_m] because I adore [name_f]Narnia[/name_f], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] (likewise), [name_m]Eben[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m]

So thoughtful berries any thoughts? Boys names are so much harder for me. Thank you! I am looking forward to your help!

That is a lot to put out there for a name!! I am a fan of [name_u]August[/name_u], though

[name_m]Jackson[/name_m] (very popular/trendy though)
[name_m]Judge[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Sol[/name_m])
[name_m]Hart[/name_m]
[name_u]Hero[/name_u]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
Dare
[name_u]Dash[/name_u]
[name_m]Abraham[/name_m] or [name_m]Abram[/name_m]
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m] and [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] are names that mean “brave”

dh doesn’t go for [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], have an [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] in the family

Thanks mimiottawa dh says [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] can go on the long list!

[name_m]Judge[/name_m] feels harsh, perhaps if it was explained? What thought does this word evoke?

My husband is similar. I will think we’ve agreed on a name and then he randomly crosses it off the list. I’ve found that if I have a strong backing for a name he’s more willing to consider it (e.g. [name_m]Ulrik[/name_m]/[name_m]Ulrich[/name_m] and [name_m]Luther[/name_m] after two [name_m]Christian[/name_m] reformers; [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] after myself and other family…). My suggestion is find a name you like and see if it has any positive connection with some historical figure with characteristics you admire.

[name_m]Martin[/name_m] ([name_m]Luther[/name_m] or [name_m]Luther[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m], [name_m]Jr[/name_m].)
[name_m]George[/name_m] (Muller)

Anajo, thanks you really understand! Yes, if I can get him on board with a meaning or strong connection he’s very much intrigued. I will pursue the heros of faith line.
