Some of these weren’t surprising ([name]James[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Mary[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Paul[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Thomas[/name] [name]George[/name]) but the rest were pretty shocking! My family lives in [name]Virginia[/name] and [name]Missouri[/name] and we are of Irish descent.
Leave some of your family names- I would love to hear them!!
I love old names, particularly girls’ names. I love the nicknamey style of [name]Flossie[/name], [name]Bessie[/name], [name]Trixie[/name], etc. I’m totally a fan of nicknames as given names, even though I know the reasons why people are against them (resume, successful career, etc.). Some cool names from my ancestry are:
I agree, I’m not a fan of nickname names either, but that’s what was on their gravestones. [name]Just[/name] wondering, but what’s your heritage? Guida, Lamona, and [name]Jerry[/name] sound Italian. I love [name]Ione[/name], [name]Faye[/name], [name]Stella[/name] and [name]Warden[/name]!
I’m a mutt. These names are from all sides of my family, and the most predominant heritages are:
Irish
[name]German[/name]
English
Native American (had no influence on the names here)
Surprisingly, no Italian to my knowledge! Funny thing about these names is that the families, for the most part, were from backwoods, isolated towns, and didn’t know the correct pronunciation of the names. [name]Hence[/name] Guida was [name]GUY[/name]-duh rather than GWEE-duh, and [name]Ione[/name] was i-OWN rather than i-OWN-ee.
