Ira

[name]Do[/name] you pronounce [name]Ira[/name] ‘EYE-rah" or "EE-ruh’ (or another way)? And which do you prefer?
If you saw the name would you expect [name]Ira[/name] to be a boy or a girl?
[name]Do[/name] you like the name [name]Ira[/name]?

[name]Ira[/name]. i like it
its got unique and is short and sweet.
i’d say it like '‘EYE-ruh’
to me it sounds like a girls name
only downside- it reminds me of an asian trying to say “[name]Isla[/name]” cos they cant say the L sound
apart from that i think its great

I would pronounce it eye rah. I think it is a lovely name for both genders but would prefer it on a boy

I say “eye rah” like [name]Ira[/name] [name]Hayes[/name] Ira Hayes - Wikipedia. It’s all male to me, I can’t imagine it on a girl but maybe that’s because of my association to it.

I pronounce it “eye rah.” I would think [name]Ira[/name] was a boy, as I know it is a male name.

[name]Ira[/name] IS a male name and I would pity any girl given the name. I pronounce it eye-ruh.

I would pronounce it EYE-ruh, and I would expect it to be on a boy. I quite like the name, and it reminds me of the Ballad of [name]Ira[/name] [name]Hayes[/name] (a song about the person linked by pp).

Thankyou so much! The majority has said exactly what I wanted to hear!!

I pronounce it and prefer it, Eye-ruh. I would think girl, but have seen some little boy [name]Ira[/name]'s.

I’d pronounce it EYE-ruh. And it’s all boy.

I pronounce it EYE-RUH. The spelling reminds me a tad of ire, although. I would think girl, because I haven’t met a boy [name]Ira[/name].

I pronounce EYE-ra. I believe it’s traditionally a male name; however, I tend to like it more as a female name. It’s got a great soft ending (“uh”) that can be very feminine if bestowed on a little girl. I may be alone in this opinion though. Sometimes a name that is very traditionally male may have trouble crossing over; however, we are seeing a lot of gender crossing with names lately. I think [name]Ira[/name] could definitely work for a girl. I actually met a girl named [name]Ira[/name] once, and it suited her very nicely!

I think it’s a boys name.
The only problem with this name is the [name]IRA[/name] - it was an Irish terrorist group.

I know a pretty cool guy named [name]Ira[/name] (eye-rah). Thumbs up from me!

[name]Ira[/name] was my grandfathers name, as well as my DH grandfathers name, so I can only picture a boy. It was pronounced Eye-ra for both.
