Ireland?

[name]Just[/name] wanted to get everyone’s opinions of the name [name]Ireland[/name] as a first name for a little girl? I was just watching this TV show and it completely struck me and I really like it. What do you think? Good, bad? Any middle name ideas? I can’t wait to get my husband’s opinion tonight. Thanks everyone! Oh yeah and she has a 3 year old sister named [name]Ava[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and is due at the end of [name]April[/name].

[name]Ireland[/name] is the name of [name]Alec[/name] [name]Baldwin[/name] and [name]Kim[/name] Basinger’s daughter so it’s a celebrity name as well as a place name. I think it’s better in the middle spot. It doesn’t have the same glamour as [name]Ava[/name] [name]Grace[/name]'s name.

Sorry, not a fan. I have heard it a few times, but still always think of [name]Alec[/name] [name]Baldwin[/name] and [name]Kim[/name] Basinger. What about [name]Isla[/name]? It would be great with [name]Ava[/name].

My first though is [name]Alec[/name] [name]Baldwin[/name]'s daughter, but it would be refreshing to hear in real life. [name]Ireland[/name] [name]Rose[/name], maybe, or something feminine/familiar in the middle to help tie back in with big sister’s name.

I love [name]Ireland[/name], or Irelyn is pretty too! It’s my brothers choice for a daughters name, I really hope I have a niece named [name]Ireland[/name] one day. So pretty!

I like [name]Ireland[/name] a lot! I don’t have the association to [name]Alec[/name] [name]Baldwin[/name] (or, I didn’t until a couple of seconds ago) so I had no clue it was a celeb name. I really like it, but I do think [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Ireland[/name] are a bit mismatched. Not a huge deal but maybe something like [name]Sophie[/name] [name]Ireland[/name]? or [name]Claire[/name] [name]Ireland[/name]?

I really love it, but it seems to get a lot of flack for whatever reason, so I think it’s usually better as a MN, anyway. [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Ireland[/name] would be cute as sisters, though.

Good luck!

I can’t stand it. I think it’s ridiculous, no offense. If your child goes and lives in [name]Ireland[/name], I’m pretty sure she’d get laughed at- [name]America[/name] Ferrara was, and [name]America[/name] was a name before it was a country, unlike [name]Ireland[/name]. You did a great job with your older daughter-I think [name]Ava[/name] is absolutely stunning- and [name]Ireland[/name] just doesn’t stand up to it. I have no problem with it as a middle, but as a first, I just find it silly.

I think [name]Erin[/name] is a brilliant alternative, as are sound-alikes [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Isis[/name] and legitimate Irish names like [name]Bridget[/name], [name]Saoirse[/name], or [name]Aisling[/name].

[name]Ireland[/name] is a country, not a name. I think it sounds ridiculous, and I would be pretty upset if my sister had a beautiful name like [name]Ava[/name], and I was stuck with [name]Ireland[/name].

I like [name]Ireland[/name] as a name. There is actually an [name]Ireland[/name] who goes to my school in the grade below me. When I first heard it, I wondered if I had heard it right, but I heard it again and I was like, '[name]Ireland[/name], that’s cool!" It seems like many of the people in the grade below me have awesome and unique names.

I grew up with a little girl named [name]Ireland[/name] and I thought it was lovely. I never associated it with a place because I was so young, LOL.
