Iris Delphine

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries!

We’re TTC#1 in 2015, and are tossing around names like crazy! Although our heritage is Irish (husband) and [name_m]German[/name_m] (husband and me), many of the names we agree on are either classics or more popular in the UK than the US.

We currently live in the states, but may move back to Germany or potentially the UK in the next few years due to the nature of our jobs.

I’m wondering your thoughts on [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] for a little girl…would she fit in regardless of where we live?

I love it, I think it sounds like a perfectly universal name, It’s gorgeous.

A real winner, as @britkarma said, a universal name and a stunning one at that.

I don’t know what names work well in [name_m]German[/name_m], but in general I agree that [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] is gorgeous!

Beautiful name. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] isn’t a super [name_m]German[/name_m]-friendly name in that you may have people asking how to pronounce it and you will hear a lot of “Eeris” pronunciations. Would she be “Eye-ris” in Germany or are you flexible around also using/hearing “Eeris”?

I would hope Germans would say “delfeen” but you might get “delpina.”

We have the same issue with some of our front runners, [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I’m half [name_m]German[/name_m] and have family there. [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] would be “loora” there, which is a bit weird, but I don’t mind “emmeleena” there.

I think [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] would work well whatever country you settle in. It’s a very nice combo!

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] is gorgeous; swoon-worthy. Both names work together beautifully and the combo just sounds…delicious!
