Iris, Maris or Mavis? Help!

Which would you choose? Last name sounds like “b-d”.

We are strongly favoring [name_f]Iris[/name_f] but she will have a brother [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] (and sister [name_u]Eden[/name_u]/ [name_f]Edie[/name_f]). We got over the matchy initials but now with a week left I’m second guessing if they are too close. Help!

I think [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] are a little close, I think [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_f]Maris[/name_f] & [name_u]Eden[/name_u] works well. I vote [name_f]Maris[/name_f].

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] are too matchy for me. I think [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] would br great!

I also vote [name_f]Maris[/name_f]. It’s a beautiful name and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is just a little too close to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m].

I don’t know if [name_f]Iris[/name_f] seems different enough because we call [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] “[name_u]Izzy[/name_u]”. It has been very difficult this time around and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is the only name my husband has loved as well but I think I could rally for something else if I had to

Also could you put your votes into the poll?:

I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f], but in this case I think [name_f]Maris[/name_f] would be a better fit. I don’t care for [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], though I really like [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f], on its own and with your surname, but it does sound too similar to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] to me, so my second choice would be [name_f]Maris[/name_f]. [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] sounds old ladyish to me and stylistically really far off from [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u], though just [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] would fit well if you’re taking suggestions.

So on this discussion people are saying no to [name_f]Iris[/name_f] but in the same question with the poll [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is quite a bit ahead so I’m still totally confused. I do like [name_f]Maris[/name_f] but not a fan of it getting shortened to “[name_f]Mare[/name_f]” which I think is inevitable.

I don’t think that’s as much an issue. Surprisingly, I actually do know a [name_f]Maris[/name_f] (second-grader my friend tutored) and nobody shortens her name, except for her mother who calls her “[name_f]Mar[/name_f]” as in La [name_f]Mar[/name_f], the sea. It’s a beautiful name with a beautiful meaning, and I think any baby would love to have it.
I hope this helps!

I think [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is beautiful! I don’t think it’s a problem because [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] have different consonant sounds.

Thanks all. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is still getting votes in poll… Maybe will have to see what our hearts say when she is born.
