Iris or Milla?

I am torn between the two names [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Milla[/name]. I like [name]Iris[/name] because it is unique and strong, but [name]Milla[/name] seems pretty and fun. Thoughts?

[name]Iris[/name] is prettier and more interesting to me. I like the rainbow goddess/flower connection. [name]Milla[/name] seems like it fits in well with the current trend for sort of light, insubstantial girls names that la-la a bit: [name]Lila[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Millie[/name], [name]Tillie[/name], [name]Maya[/name], and [name]Layla[/name] sort of names that are everywhere right now.

Cute names but a bit insubstantial for me.

[name]Milla[/name] is awesome! I’m in love with [name]Cilla[/name] and [name]Minna[/name], and [name]Milla[/name] is right along those lines, so of course it appeals to me. I have a bad association with [name]Iris[/name].

Although both names are pretty, I prefer the vintage charm of [name]Iris[/name] a lot more than the exotic [name]Milla[/name]. I like the many connections for [name]Iris[/name] - literary, rainbow, flower and eye are all included. Personally, [name]Iris[/name] just seems more substantial. I also find that [name]Iris[/name] is a more versatile name so it’s easier to choose sibling names because it can cross-over to many style families.

They’re both great! I lean towards [name]Milla[/name] though.

I’ve only ever heard [name]Milla[/name] for [name]Camilla[/name] and I think I prefer it as a nn…pretty though!

[name]Iris[/name] is stronger to me, regal and feminine without feeling girly.

I like them both!

However, I think [name]Iris[/name] is a name that will last the test of time. [name]Milla[/name] is a bit more trendy, but never-the-less a great name.

I feel mixed: I prefer the sound of [name]Milla[/name] (so pretty and fluid) but I agree that it feels more of-the-moment and lighter, while [name]Iris[/name] feels more timeless and substantial. So I’d think it would partly come down to what sort of spirit you’d like the name you chose to carry.

Definitely [name]Milla[/name]!

Definitely [name]Iris[/name]! I think of the beautiful flowers straightaway, I think it’s a great imagery behind the name. I even think [name]Iris[/name] [name]Milla[/name] (or even better, [name]Iris[/name] [name]Camilla[/name]!) would be a great combo. [name]Milla[/name] is cute, but it never especially wowed me, sorry.

Good luck!

I like the suggestion of [name]Iris[/name] [name]Camilla[/name].

I adore but, but prefer [name]Milla[/name]. I like it better as a nn for [name]Camille[/name], though!

I agree with this. [name]Milla[/name] is really pretty, so you can’t go wrong, but it just blends in too much.

I vote for [name]Iris[/name]. To my ears, it’s a fuller and more distinctive name.

[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Milla[/name] is too nicknamey, but I do like it and [name]Mila[/name], but they don’t seem substantial enough.
