Iris or Virginia?

I’ve always loved place names, but I’m conflicted on which name I like best between [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Iris[/name_f]) or [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] is special because that is my favorite place my husband and I have ever traveled. I also like [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] because it’s different. I don’t think she’ll ever meet another girl with her name. On the other hand, I think [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] is a lovely, feminine name. I like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] because it feels more like a “name” if that makes sense.

I think both are beautiful! I definitely agree that she would be unlikely to meet another [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. Personally, I don’t think you could go wrong with either. That doesn’t help at all… Well… I guess if I really had to pick one I’d pick [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] just for the simple fact of how unique it is. But to my ear, both are lovely! Beautiful choices.

I like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] best :slight_smile: I love the flow and elegance of it and the possibility of nn [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] or [name_f]Nia[/name_f]

I know a [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] who hates her name so I’d go with [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u], though I think [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] would be adorable!

I prefer [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] isn’t ready for revival imo.

While I would definitely prefer [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] - I think she’s so cool and green and lush and ladylike - there’s something about [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] that grabs me. Seems like it could be more special for you.

I prefer [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f], for its elegance and cute nicknames. But if you pick [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], I’d prefer [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] to [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]. To balance out [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]'s modern feel.

Both are lovely. [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] is probably more my style because it’s classic. But [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] is pretty too and has great significance to you. I like the nn [name_f]Iris[/name_f]! I think in your case go for [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]!

I think I prefer [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] over [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] as a first name, BUT I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f], and I think [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] seems a little plain and clunky next to the other girl names in your signature. (I do really like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] though! [name_f]Ginny[/name_f]!)

In my perfect world, it’d be [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f], but of your two options, I would choose [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u].
