[name]Hi[/name] all…looking for a name for my first baby!!!
So my husband and I met in [name]Ireland[/name] (I’m from there), and I’ve since moved here to the states, where Irish names are very very popular. My name’s [name]Brigid[/name] and I’ve always been fond of how unique my name is. I want the same for my daughter, but I don’t want her to be plagued with a name that’s impossible to pronounce, like many Gaelic names can be. I’ve only picked out a few names so far, but here are some that I like very much:
[name]Imogen[/name]: I think [name]Imogen[/name] is great!
[name]Ryan[/name]: I wouldn’t use it on a girl, and it’s really overused on boys.
[name]Mairead[/name]: I had to stare at this name for a bit before deciding that I’d pronounce it [name]Mare[/name]-eed.
Congrads how exciting for you both, I’m american and my boyfriend is Irish, he is over there right know… : ( lol… Here are some I love Good [name]Luck[/name]
I love [name]Aisling[/name], and it’s usually not to hard for people to pronounce after they’ve heard it once. Or spelling it [name]Aislinn[/name]? It’s popular in [name]Ireland[/name], but not here yet.
I have just fallen in love with [name]Roisin[/name] and [name]Saoirse[/name]. Now I know they look unpronouncable, but you could simplify of Anglicise them. The first one is [name]Ro[/name]-sheen and the second is Sare-sha. I like to think of Sare-sha as like [name]Sarah[/name].
[name]Just[/name] 2 more choices to consider, hope it’s helpful.
I also think that [name]Siobhan[/name] is beautiful (though we Americans sometimes have difficulty with the spelling) and I also like [name]Sinead[/name].
I love Irish names above all others! (Partly because I am a little bit odd/studied linguistics and really like that the spelling often doesn’t correllate with the pronunciation…)
[name]How[/name] about …
Girls :
[name]Niamh[/name] (neev) - very popular, but equally very pretty. Can be anglicised to [name]Neve[/name].
[name]Saoirse[/name] (seer-sha)
[name]Nuala[/name] (noo-la)
[name]Orfhlaith[/name] (or-la) - can be anglicised to [name]Orla[/name].
[name]Roisin[/name] (rosh-een)
[name]Caoimhe[/name] (kee-va)
Caoilfhionn (kee-lin) - also spelt Caoilinn
Ceibhfhionn (I believe this is said like [name]Siobhan[/name])
I love [name]Mairead[/name], it’s always been one of my favorites…so pretty.
I also love [name]Eilish[/name] (Aelish) for a girl.
I’m partial to [name]Declan[/name] for a boy because my youngest is [name]Declan[/name] and he’s just an awesome little boy!!
Your name choices are all great! Here are some more though from you to choose from, which would all make great names with [name]Kerry[/name].
Girl:
[name]Saoirse[/name]- this has to be my favorite unusual Irish girl name
[name]Eileen[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Mckenna[/name]- It’s ranked at 220 though
[name]Aoife[/name]- It’s pronounced like ee-fa though
[name]Talullah[/name]
Boys:
[name]Nevin[/name]- instead of the popular [name]Devin[/name]
[name]Blaine[/name]
[name]Dallas[/name]- may be seen as more of a cowboy name though?
[name]Eamon[/name]
[name]Tiernan[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name]
[name]Finian[/name]- a fresher take on [name]Finnegan[/name](which I like too)
[name]Gallagher[/name]
[name]Seamus[/name]- hands down my favorite Irish boy name
