Irish family - mouthful

[name_m]Monty[/name_m] Python. I don’t know if that would be a big deal to you, but also three surnames is a lot of surname, and [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] is ridiculous, I would definitely change that. Maybe [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] or [name_m]Fitzpatrick[/name_m], [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] is a really cute nick name, and keeps to the Irish feel, and a short name in the middle.

[name_m]Fitzpatrick[/name_m] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] for example. If you a sure about [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] then I would chose a 1 syllable middle name, or else that is a whole lot of name.
I hope I could help

we have a lot of thinking to do thats for sure, what do you guys think about [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] or [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Montague[/name_m]

[name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] sounds like a joke name. It is memorable, but in a ‘seriously??’ way rather than a good way. [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] is a great name, but sometimes the nicest of names just don’t work with certain surnames, and the only sensible option is to let them go, however much you love them. It sounds like you’re making fun of your child, I just wouldn’t do it.

I’m sorry to be another “anti-” [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] voter.

[name_m]Montague[/name_m] is such a fabulous last name and it is very memorable partly due to it’s [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] & [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] connection and partly just because it sounds awesome. I think is you love [name_m]Monty[/name_m] as a nn your son can still have that through the [name_m]Montague[/name_m] ln.

If you are stuck on keeping [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] I suggest considering it as a mn. They are not as commonly used but are still a great place for well loved but maybe slightly miss - matched names. You asked about [name_m]Grant[/name_m] or [name_u]James[/name_u]… [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] “[name_m]Monty[/name_m]” ([name_u]James[/name_u] M. [name_m]Montague[/name_m]).

3 Thoughts:
Personally both of these would bother me, it it doesn’t bother you…cool. I just like pointing it out so you don’t figure this out four days after announcing his name.

  1. I think [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] sounds a bit like a missing [name_m]Donald[/name_m] Duck, [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] Mouse cartoon character.
    2)[name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] Hasting [name_m]Montague[/name_m] sounds a bit like a law firm…
  2. [name_m]Grant[/name_m] Hastings [name_m]Montague[/name_m] sounds a bit like a sentence. As in “grant Mr. Hastings the [name_m]Montague[/name_m] estate”.

Putting a different middle name in there does not make it better. The child’s name will still be [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m]. I think the suggestion of [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] “[name_m]Monty[/name_m]” or [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] “[name_m]Monty[/name_m]” is the best advice yet.

Ditto to previous posters: changing the middle name won’t fix the issue that most posters are talking about because [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] would still be the first name. I do like [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m], but I am not a big fan of [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m].

I feel really bad because you seemed so in love with the original name, but you did ask for everyone’s opinions and I hope you can take them as advice/ideas and not feel hurt by our dislike for the original name. That being said, this is your son and if you and your partner like [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m], more power to you.

I immediately though of the character from Rescue Rangers, Monterey [name_m]Jack[/name_m] ([name_m]Monty[/name_m])- sorry, I’m a child of the 80’s! So, to me, [name_m]Monty[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] is definitely cartoonish sounding. Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers - Wikipedia

I think if you and your partner have your heart set on using [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m], you should use it in the middle. [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] sounds quite handsome.

I don’t know i kind of like it!

[name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] is a terrible name. If this post isn’t a troll, then I am very sorry to be blunt.

If you love it, I’d go even further. Why not [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_m]Mortimer[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m].

Or, if you don’t want your kid to be made fun of, pick anything else.

I like it:)

I like the whole name but not [name_m]Monty[/name_m].

I’m cringing just reading this - I don’t even dare say it outloud.

What about Hastings for a first name?

[name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] is too similar to your surname–it’s repetitious. [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Montague[/name_m] would be my pick for you. Good luck!
