Irish sounding name for a boy!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]. [name_m]Long[/name_m] time lurker first time poster. I found out recently I was pregnant. My husband and I have decided on [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] [name_u]Green[/name_u] if we have a girl but boy names are tough!

We wanted something Irish sounding because we have decided on [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u] as the ending

We’re torn between a couple of names.

The two we are most liking right now are

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u]
[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u]

[name_m]Callum[/name_m] is also one we’re considering.

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] is the most popular and safest route but possibly a bit boring. I worry [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] would be confused with [name_f]Karen[/name_f] in the States.

Any strong opinions either way out there?

Thanks!

[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u] sounds great - I think it’s known enough not to be confused with [name_f]Karen[/name_f]

I also love [name_m]Callum[/name_m] -its a great name!
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] is nice enough but very popular

I know a few [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]'s, and I haven’t once thought of it sounding like [name_f]Karen[/name_f] or being confused for [name_f]Karen[/name_f].
I think both names are really good picks.

I really like both [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] is well established so I wouldn’t anticipate any issues with someone thinking that it is [name_f]Karen[/name_f]. Other possibilities…

[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Malone[/name_m]
[name_m]Euan[/name_m]
[name_m]Maguire[/name_m]
[name_m]Gallagher[/name_m]

I like all your options. However, if you like [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] but worry about the [name_f]Karen[/name_f] association, maybe consider…

[name_u]Tiernan[/name_u]
[name_m]Kennon[/name_m]
[name_u]Keegan[/name_u]
[name_u]Kiernan[/name_u]

I like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] or [name_m]Callum[/name_m] a bit more with [name_f]Nina[/name_f].

[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] is lovely [name_f]IMO[/name_f] and I don’t think confusion with [name_f]Karen[/name_f] would be a major issue.

Your worry may be justified, my high school math teacher always called my classmate [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] [name_f]Karen[/name_f]. But then again, he was Pakistani and had trouble with pronunciation in general.
[name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] would be the perfect alternative to [name_u]Kieran[/name_u].
I don’t believe [name_m]Jack[/name_m] has Irish origin and I personally don’t associate it with Irish names. [name_m]Sean[/name_m], [name_m]Brian[/name_m] or [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] might be a better fit.
Have you considered [name_m]Declan[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] or [name_m]Connor[/name_m]?

[name_u]Kieran[/name_u] is a great name.

[name_m]Kevin[/name_m] would be similar to [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] if you feel [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] is too close to [name_f]Karen[/name_f]. The Irish version for [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] would be Caoimhin.

I believe [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] is recognized and popular enough to not be mistaken for [name_f]Karen[/name_f].

I really love [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] with the rest of the name. All handsome options though. Good luck.

Absolutely love [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] for you! [name_m]Callum[/name_m] is also great
