Is Alice too Old Lady

I have long adored [name_f]Alice[/name_f] but my mum hates it she says its an old lady name, it’s top 40 in my state and she has a friend named [name_f]Alice[/name_f] who’s 41 not old lady at all. Since I only know two [name_f]Alice[/name_f]'s who are 41 and 14 I can’t see the old lady thing but I’m quite close to my mum and can’t imagine giving my child a name she hates especially since my sister is planning on using the name my mum would have named my brother if he was a girl ([name_f]Lauren[/name_f] [name_f]Alouette[/name_f] ([name_f]Alouette[/name_f] being my suggestion to honour herself [name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]). For what it’s worth she can’t imagine my top choice [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] on a baby but thats understandable its her mums name.
Sorry for rambling but is [name_f]Alice[/name_f] too old lady?

Absolutely no.[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a gorgeous classic name and it’s so adorable on a little girl. You can call her [name_u]Allie[/name_u], Lissy etc. People name their kids [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] etc so why not a girl named [name_f]Alice[/name_f]?

  1. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is not too “old lady.” [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of “old lady” names are young again, and the names your mom probably thinks of as young are quickly becoming middle-aged.

  2. One of the best comments anyone has made to me in this whole process went something like this: It doesn’t matter how I feel about the name now. If that’s what you choose for your child, I will eventually love the name because I will love the child. Thinking about it, I believe there’s so much truth in the idea that our opinion of a name changes when it belongs to someone we have strong feelings (positive or negative) about. I think if you name your daughter [name_f]Alice[/name_f], it will quickly become one of your mom’s favorite monikers!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] isn’t old lady, but I would never use it because of Wonderland.

When I think of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] I agree with [name_f]Carla[/name_f]. I think of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is wonderful! I don’t think of Wonderland, because I’ve known so many Alices in real life and fiction. It’s a great name!

I have a name crush on [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I was just at the airport and heard a dad call his little girl [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and immediately fell for the name. It’s adorable on a little girl, very fresh sounding to my ears.

I say go for it, 100%

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a lovely classic name. I know 3 Alices between the ages of 16 and 18, 2 Alices under 12 and only 1 over 50 so I definitely don’t think it’s an old lady name

Absolutely not. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a gorgeous classic, and it carries very well throughout a person’s life. Beautiful name.

No! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is one of my favorites! My mother in law sounds like your mom. She thinks all vintage names are old ladyish. She can’t see the appeal of names that she has heard on older ladies. I agree that your mother will get used to the name you pick for your child.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a gorgeous name, I’ve always loved it. I think the wonderland connection is great.

It is more traditional than modern but it’s lovely to have a name with style and history - that’s what makes a classic.

It sounds like you are close to your Mum and in that case I think she’ll respect your choice of name. She’ll also adore baby [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and the thus love everything about her including her name!

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is such a sweet choice, please go for it!

I don’t think it’s old lady at all, as others have said, it’s a classic.
